Dr's office just called about my pre approval...

Well they finally called me. She told me I got my pre approval. But my concern is this. They only approved me to stay 2 days. Well in my dr's notes and what she told me is that she wants me to stay AT LEAST 2 nights. The lady told me the hospital will just call and get the remander approved while I am there.

Is this normal and will it for sure be approved for the extra night?

I am just thankful it is approved. I just don't understand why they don't approve things according to what the dr says, ughhhh.

Thanks I am sure it will come together as well. At least I get to have the surgery.

I just hate when things are not in my control, lol.

Same here but from everything that I can see 2 days is SOP, anything after that is at the discretion of the Dr. regarding how the surgery went, any additional things that had to be done, any complications, pain management, etc. So they start from 2 and work their way up (or down) as needed. Glad to hear you were approved and keep up good spirits, looking here for advice and help and giving such if you are able ((((((((Hugs)))))))

I was approved for 2 nights and I ended up staying 5 nights do to complications. My doctor told me not to worry she would take care of everything. Best wishes on your surgery.

Dr's office just called about my pre approval...

I already posted about this on another thread.. but when the surgery scheduler called my Ins. Co. the lady she talked to said I was approved for 2 days/nights. Well this past week I got my letter from the Ins. Co. and it had approved for only 1 day/night, 8/5-8/6.

Well I called the scheduler again and told her about the letter and what it said. This time she spoke with someone else and that person said that the (code) that they had for a TAH was for a one day/night stay. She also didn't know why the first lady told the scheduler that I was approved initially for 2.
But anyways, she told her/Ins. that NO WAY would I be released after only 1 night!

The letter said that the Ins. would follow up after surgery. I guess it's standard for the dr./nurse to let them know I'll need more time in the castle.? Well at least I hope so.??

Ruth, my doctor told me 2-3 days for my TAH. I forgot to ask if two days was literal, meaning 2 days, 1 night or if two days meant two nights, like the way hotels figure their room rates. I would love to be ready to go home the next day, but I don't know if I'll be up to it after a TAH.

If you don't feel up to going home the next day, be sure to let your nurses and doctor know. Don't be shy about expressing how you feel. Your doctor can get an approval for an additional day if he doesn't feel you are ready to leave.

Dr's office just called about my pre approval...

Hi purplesnow, the drs. surgery scheduler told me normally it's 3-4 days for a TAH from what she's seen. I'm guessing I'll be in there for at least 2 according to them. I don't know why the Ins. said that the code for the TAH is only for one day/night??

I'll definately say something if I don't feel up to it. I also think my dr. isn't going to let me go after one day/night either.

I don't want to be worrying about this too. kwim?
