Ovaries or no Ovaries version?

Hello all

I posted yesterday, but think cause I added a poll it meant people missed my posting.

Basically I'm 37yrs old I'm awaiting a hysterectomy, I have very severe fibromyalgia, been told am in the perimenopause and I'm having a rough time of it with hormonal swings, hot flashes, night sweats, pains in groin area and down the legs not just when have my bleed, but when I am having hot flashes etc... and the FMS is being badly effected every time I bleed, be that pill break week or break through non pill break weeks!

7yrs ago I started all the perimeno symptoms and got worsened FMS, all started right after an RTA (lower belly, shin and lower back injured), last 2yrs have been really bad with lots of flooding and clotting, including recently needing meds to stop the bleed as I was badly aneamic, have always had very heavy prolonged periods, flooding, clots since started in teens, just got told that it would settle as the cycle settled, never did!!

I'm bleeding regularly outside of pill break week, this year have missed 4 periods, never missed a cycle before, but actually by the end of the 2nd missed period week, had lessened symptoms all around!! but they soon came back with a vengeance when I finally came on again a week before pill break was due too!

I have read that many people with FMS have a terrible time during perimenopause, I agree! I have also read that many fibromyalgia sufferers that undergo a hysterectomy have to go back some time later to have their ovaries removed due to the hormonal swings and ovarian pains that refer to groin and legs (Devin Starlanyl MD). problems I'm suffering now badly along with the rest of the perimeno and flared up FMS problems..

I would like to hear particularly from anyone that had Fibromyalgia before their hysterectomy, especially those that had hormonal swings, be it perimeno or just menstrual cycle related.

When you had your hysterectomy:

Did they take your ovaries at same time?
Leave them in but you had to have them taken out later due to hormonal swings causing symptoms still.?
or left them in and you still got them?

if you had them taken out same time do you feel worse or better now, if you had them taken later again do you feel better now or before they went or no different?

does anyone with FMS take natural or synthetic hormone replacement to balance their hormone levels, if so do you take testosterone as well as the traditionally female ones? and do you feel better with your FMS symptoms, worse or no different.

Thanks in advance for any help
Crystal

Ovaries or no Ovaries version?

I had one ovary. The left one had a ton of endo on it so it went but I kept the right one. When I went into surgery dr said if the right one was bad he would take that one too, so I didn't know until I woke up if I still had one! I still have slight mood swings and once in a while I will get a migrane but other than that not too many symptoms...Good luck!!
