It's smart of you to ask questions and do some research now so you can have a better discussion of your options with the doctor. There's lots of information on this site to help. You might want to start reading by the articles in this link: Hormone Jungle Articles.

The symptoms you mentioned are common in menopause. You and your doctor can weigh the pros and cons of hormone therapy to decide what is best for your circumstances. Usually we start out on estrogen only and balance with it to eliminate as many symptoms as possible. If there are additional symptoms that can be helped by using progesterone and testosterone, those hormones can be added later, one at a time. Doing it this way gives you time to see how you react to each one. Keeping a journal during the balancing process can be helpful, too. It gives a good picture of how you are doing over a period of time.

I hope this helps!

I am sorry you are having symptoms of menopause. You are early post-op and things might settle down. Have you tried alternatives like black cohosh , such as Remefemin or Estroven yet? They work slower than hrt, but might take the edge off of symptoms.

If you are having moderate to severe symptoms it is good you are talking with your doctor about your options.

Here is a link to the Mayo Clinic on hrt:

You could take a very low dose of a bio-identical hormone like estradiol that comes in patch and pill form for a short time until your body adjusts to losing your ovaries. Hrt does not have to be taken indefinitely.

We have more information in our Resources Library under Links.

I hope you can read and research before you see your doctor.
