LSH and need for swelly belly or ab binder?

i had only a little swelling after LSH, nothing unbearable, never felt the need to 'bind up' ... i did purchase two of those spandex-panty things at walmart (not stiff enough to be a girdle), and wore them under clothing that was still a little tight around week 2-3 ... other than that, i've had a completely uneventful experience ... released back to work/sex/gym at day 19, but started already feeling better in the recovery room, almost at the 8-week mark now and feeling 10 years younger! good luck!

I am still curious about this and I'm a week out of surgery. Sometimes I think it would help and sometimes I'm glad I'm not a bound up.

I bought regular cotton brief underwear a size larger than I normally wear and that's what I've been wearing. It's easy to keep the waistband just between the belly button incision and the side incisions. I'm not getting binding or pressure, but honestly, at this point, I'm really not sure I want it. lol

I also bought two spandex control panties at Wal-mart. Light support, nothing really tight - also a size bigger, as they are made to be tight. I haven't worn them yet, but probably will start once my stitches are removed and need to wear "normal" clothes again. (I've been living in my jammies!)

Know what has helped me? I have some "herbies" - they're little cloth pillow type things and they're filled with flax and herbs - you can microwave them for warmth or keep them in the freezer for cool relief - I use them for everything, and they've helped my tummy feel less itchy.

The Swelly belly band helped me right after surgery for the first week or so, but now that I am out and about and almost at my 6 week mark, the swelling gets miserable by the end of the day. Some days I wish I was bound for better support and other times, it's just annoying feeling like I'm hanging all over the place...Sorry for the ugly mental image, but you get what I mean, I hope. I still can't wear jeans for a whole day, but my body swells with all types of changes, so I am not surprised. Best of luck to you!

I had LSH (I think, does that mean they go through your belly button and 2 small incisions? I'm in my 5th week now and didn't need anything, and I bought everything ahead of time. A year ago a had a very successful tummy tuck and the hysterectomy hasn't changed my tummy at all, still flat. bonniebolander60

I had LSH and haven't used anything binding to wear. Have been wearing loose clothing. At night it feels good when trying to lay on my side (still not too successful) to support my middle with a pillow. Also if sore at home during the day (not too often now, just after I overdo it) I walk around with a little pillow or press my hand to my sore spot. I tried tight girdle-type panties with a previous surgery and they made my belly more sore.

The pillow for support while sleeping - best thing ever. I sort of tuck mine up under me and it's the perfect amount of support without feeling too smushed up - does that make sense? It really helps me sleep more comfortably. I use a small tummy pillow when walking around too, also helpful.
