Treadmill?

I am 7 weeks post op tomorow and I am wondering about walking on the treadmill. I walk the stairs at work but I notice today that I have some pain on my left side nothing bad but discomfort. Any advice?? I forgot to ask Dr at 6 week checkup

Treadmill?

Hi!

It's hard to remember everything we want to ask at those appointments, isn't it? A quick phone call should be all it takes to find out if your doctor will allow it or not. Listen to your body and ease into your normal routine as your doctor allows.

Best wishes as your healing continues!

Yes, call the doctor. I am cleared to exer. but SLOWLY. I have not felt like it yet, but I will soon. I am 7 weeks post of from my abdominal hyster. When you do start, just start with a couple of minutes and add to it so there is no pain. No rush, heal first.

Treadmill?

That was actually a question I asked my dr at my 4 week on Tuesday. He said yes, but ease back into in and nothing very vigourous at first.

Treadmill?

Yes, I'd ask the doctor. It took me a very long time to recover fully. I was told just to walk around a mall, but I was told not to go on the treadmill. My legs started cramping, and the muscles seemed to be to be atrophying. By the time I got on the treadmill, just 2 mph seemed fast! But now I'm back to my regular routine, and it feels great!

Treadmill?

I see my doctor today for my 2 week check-up and I plan to ask him this very question. It has rained everyday for the past week and I can't get outside to walk and walking inside (the house) just doesn't seem to have the same effect. I agree that 2 MPH will likely feel fast so I would plan to walk slower than that. I have a good Ipod playlist for 1.6 and 1.8 MPH that I'm hoping the doctor will let me do.

Treadmill?

It seems like my doctor told me to wait at least 6 weeks and then just start slowly. I have one but would rather walk outside.

Treadmill?

Always good advice to ask doctor and i totally forgot as well. Decided I should try it and see what my body said. Started the treadmill 3 weeks post op at 1mph for about 10 minutes and quickly discovered 1mph was not enough so i advanced to 2mph - flat not at a slant. I walked for about 10 minutes and gradullay increased time to 30 minutes but never went more than 2mph. My TAH was 4/9/08 and i am now walking about 6 miles a day. Good luck to you & dont over do it!
