Too soon for camping?

I need some advice! Ever since I scheduled surgery I knew that my family was going to leave me this Saturday and drive 12 hours for a family reunion/camping trip. I have always planned to stay home and get some R&R. But I have been feeling really good--I mean really, really good and my husband has offered to fly me down next Wednesday to where they are camping. I will be almost 3 weeks post-op at that point. I won't have to lift a finger while I'm there and we have a pop-up camping trailer so I'll have a nice cozy bed to run to whenever I need one. I still keep thinking this might be pushing it, but I'm not sure. I will have to drive back home with them, but it will be over the course of two days. I'd appreciate any opinions, especially if anyone has done anything like this. Thank you!

Too soon for camping?

ampyali,
What does your DR say? I traveled 3 hours by car to my son's college orientation when I was 3 weeks. I made sure to stop a few times. It wasn't bad at all. At the school I managed to walk around the campus and we sat for long periods of time in lectures. By 3 in the afternoon though my day was over. I was able to go back to a quiet, air-conditioned room and put my feet up. It was only my DH and I and I didn't have lots of family members around like you will have. The trip back might be tricky for you. To be honest I wouldn't do anything until you talk to your DR.

Too soon for camping?

I went camping 4 weeks after my surgery. Even though my DR released me at 4 weeks, I was still tired in the afternoons. But I was fine..we even slept in a tent. I agree about calling your DR just to make sure.
