Need some moral support

Ok, sisters, need some moral support here. Been dealing with high grade dysplasia for awhile now, first I had the cone biopsy, pap smear 6 months later, still high grade dysplasia, had hyst. done in Jan. 2007, 6 months later pap smear, still dysplasia, had a laser ablation, had a pap done on July 3rd, just got the results, high grade dysplasia, going in for a coposcopy on the 14th. I just was so disappointed after waiting 5 weeks, I thought everything was fine. I always got the results back in two weeks before.I know that I'm in good hands with my Doctor, he's a gyn/onc and I just adore him. I guess I just needed to vent. I know that I will deal with it. Thanks for letting me vent.

i'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with all this, cookie. do you know if they're doing an hpv test each time you get a pap done? it may be useful to find out if the hpv infection is 'persistent', meaning that it's active all this time. that may be the case and the reason the dysplasia is staying with you. i would encourage you to take DIM supplements or get DIM through eating good for you cruciferous vegetables; there are clinical studies that have shown that DIM helps to clear hpv. here's a website with more info: www.dimfaq.com

Thanks everyone, I knew that I could count on you all. I will ask my Doctor when I go on the 14th about the hpv infection and it being persistent. Where do I get these supplements (DIM) I do try to eat the vegetables mentioned in the article, but I'm sure I'm not eating enough. You all are just what I needed. Thanks.

Hello, cookie,

If you read my signature lines, you'll see that you and I are walking on the same path and have been for some time, it seems.

I had the surgery in August 06 and abnormal test results ever since. Laser ablation, then more troubled test outcomes. To my thinking, it really doesn't matter what causes the abnormalities, whether the HPV is active or not, etc. We have the abnormalities, and our doctors are watching us carefully, and we will do what we need to do to take care of ourselves.

It IS frustrating, and it interrupts one's desire just to have a "normal" life. This is a new normal, and you know what? We can live with it. We're the lucky ones, really, when you think about it. We made it this far, and the doctors seem to understand how this disease can be managed.

Warmest of good wishes to you.

Google DIM and see where it is cheapest? Sometimes I get lucky and find supplements cheap on amazon, at least can trust them for shipping.

You can also get DIM at your local health food store, or a grocery store such as Whole Foods.
