Far Infrared Sauna

I do stretching and strength training every day as well as jog on a treadmill every other day to stay one step ahead of developing brittle bones.

My DH just purchased a Far Infrared Sauna for the both of us to use, so I'll keep you posted as to if it is all it's cracked up to be.

Far Infrared Sauna

Hi, I was wondering how long after you had your surgery did you have to wait before you started going into a dry sauna? I had my surgery Nov. 19 2008 a TAH with removal of both ovaries it is now a month and I would like to go to my health club and get on the treadmill and go to the sauna. But I am worried if it is too soon yet.

Far Infrared Sauna

I had my surgery about a year or more before we purchased our own sauna, so I don't have an answer for you.
However, I was back at the gym within two or three weeks following my total abdominal hysterectomy. I rode the stationary bike (really slow) and walked really slow on the treadmill (kind of bent over) and not for very long.
My doctor probably would have had a fit if he knew, but I was really careful. I've always been athletic and I just couldn't sit at home all day watching tv or reading.
My uneducated guess about using a "gym sauna" would be to say not to do it right now because of the sweating (and other peoples germs) and because your incision probably isn't totally healed up inside and out yet.
Personally, I would stay away from it for awhile.

Thank you so much for your post I appreciate it. Just thinking about getting back into a workout routine. I will wait.
