Anyone have Keloid?

My vertical incision has keloid scar. Abdomen feels almost as if nothing happened; however, the incision is very tender to the touch . Dr. said at 8wk, might have cortisone shot at next visit.
Anyone have any ideas? Natural, etc.

Anyone have Keloid?

Some bodies (mine included) tend to develop this type of scar. I have a vertical incision from my c-sections and it has a lot of keloid scarring, especially the lower it goes. My hyster scar is a bikini, and it looks fairly good so far, and my doctor gave me permission to treat it with the scar ointment you can buy on this site. I'm using it on the vertical as well. It's early days yet so it too soon to tell if it's helping.

This cortisone treatment for keloids must be new; I've never heard of it. Then again, maybe it's been out for a while. After all, "the baby" just turned 20! And cortisone has been used for decades in other treatments, ie, injections for back pain. It's a heavy-duty inflammation-reducer.

It's normal that your scar is still hurting. Cortisone does reduce inflammation-is your scar very inflamed? It also reduces the ability to heal quite severely. I am not sure why you feel you have keloid scarring, because being tender is completely normal. And my hard areas didn't go until about 12 or 13 weeks out.

Anyone have Keloid?

I got a keloid from my c-section scar, it's too soon to know if I'll have one from my LAVH.. What helped me the most was Vitamin E and Mederma.. It took almost 3yrs but it has finally gotten better.. No more bumpy areas..
I'm sorry your having pain... Hope you get some relief soon..
