4 weeks post op - feeling "lost"...anyone else????

Hello all,
I am almost 5 weeks out - I started HRT (Vivelle Dot) immediately after surgery. I was wondering if any one else feels "lost". Physically, I am recovering pretty well, but emotionally ........ Imagine being shipwrecked alone on a desert island. Initially you would know what day of the week/month it was, but after a while you would lose track and NOT know the day, month or even what season it was. I just feel lost like that! I really miss having a cycle and knowing where I am at in it. Every day is BLAH sameness.....I don't feel comfortable or settled - I just feel like life is in limbo.

Hi Spicy,

You are still healing and new to all this, so give yourself time. You will get more in tune with your new body.

I also miss the guideposts that the monthly cycle gave, though I am old enough that mine weren't regular and they were getting pretty bad, so while I miss what they were saying about my body, I don't miss the period itself. (Boy is that a run on sentence..)

This is a very hard surgery to recover from emotionally. Probably even harder for you since you had cancer and are younger than I. I still have strange emotions concerning the surgery and I am much further along than you.

Just keep in mind, it is normal, it is understood by us "sisters" and it does settle down into a new mindset/routine.

Heal well - Joanne

Hi Spicy, I just wanted to say I feel the same way at times. I'm hoping as we heal more and further out from surgery that things will be better. (((HUGS)))

I do remember the "lost" feeling very clearly! Especially at weeks 3 - 5, I felt that I had lost myself and wondered if I'd ever feel like "me" again.

I agree with the previous post that said this is a difficult surgery to recover from emotionally. And women that have not been through it can't really understand.

I'm at 4 months post-op and feeling more like myself. So hang in there, it does get better!
