Smile - Questions I should ask doctor before my procedure? Questions I should ask doctor before my procedure?

Your not alone... I was also told there was no other option for me!!! I am 29 and having a hysterectomy is scary. At first I felt very alone, I do have children but I have this weird thought that having this procedure done is taking my womanhood away. My best suggestion for you is to get a second opinion, You have to do whats right for you... Don't just let 1 doctor decide for you!!!! I asked lots of questions, this web site is great. One piece of advise I will give you since I to am new here, is read, read, read. There is other options you can try before the hysterectomy. BEST WISHES>>> HUGS>>>>let me know if I can be of any help!!!!

Questions I should ask doctor before my procedure?

I personally went to two different doctors, My surgery is scheduled for 09/17/08.... I went in today for my pre-op visit and am pretty confident about the whole thing, my husband is great and I think he is more worried than I am about the surgery pre-op and post-op. The hardest part is knowing that since I have endo, that this might not be the end for me. They are removing ovaries, tubes, uterus, and cervix, But as you may know that doesn't mean the endo won't come back especially since I will be on HRT's. I just am finally ready for the pain to stop!!!!! xoxoxoxo

Questions I should ask doctor before my procedure?

This is my first post here, I too am 29. My hysterectomy is scheduled for the 23rd. Less than a week. The closer it gets the more scared I get. I am confident that its the right decision but its still scary. I was alone at the Dr. When he told me and really I have taken it just fine but you are absolutely right your mind does go blank, so Monday when I go in for Pre-op I am going to walk over and talk to my Dr. about a few questions that I have. I see that teresas surgery was today I hope she is doing well.

Hi (((brokencorazon)))!

I am sorry that you have been told you need a hysterectomy, especially since you have not had any children yet. My goes out to you!

I would strongly recommend seeing at least a second opinion before making your final decision. If at all possible, please see an endometriosis specialist. It can be amazing to find how knowledgeable and skilled these doctors are! It may even be possible that one of them could help you to the extend of retaining your fertility for awhile longer.

I am glad you have found the site and I hope you find a lot of helpful information and support here! We have a lot of wonderful women on the site and we have many Endometriosis Resources you might find helpful!

Do post any of your questions and concerns and also keep a list to take to your doctor's appointments!

I wish you all the best! S
