What exactly is an anterior repair?

Can someone please help me? I am still unclear about what is involved with the anterior repair to fix my bladder. Do they actually cut a wedge of tissue out of my vagina, i.e., the weakened area where the cystocele is? Also, will I come home with a suprapubic catheser. Also, what exactly is that and how does it work?

What exactly is an anterior repair?

Hi Fran......Me too but with posterior repair on top of these two!
I was told it depends on each individual situation, as to how much the surgeon takes for the wedge.
It is more of a incision really, then underneath the incision, they fix and or tie up the muscles, fascia and ligaments which have been causing the problem. Then stitch us back together!
I was told foley catheter for three days in the hospital only...Unless I had a major problem and couldn't pee before I left!
I don't know the difference, if any, between these two, but someone will be along soon to tell us!
Good Luck on your surgery! I will be having mine within the next three weeks. go in tuesday to meet the surgeon and schedule! yeh!!!! When is yours?
We will make it through! Hang in there!
