Vivelle dot patch anyone?

I was given this to put on 2 days post op and have not had one single menopause symptom!!! I am on the 0.1 dosage, the highest so I have been told.

What are your views on this patch, good and bad please, along with the risks of osteoporosis, heart disease and breast cancer?

I've heard nothing but good things about it so far but know nothing is foolproof.

Thanks in advance, Sandy

oh, and my gyno said I'd be wearing it at least 10 years as I am only 44.....anyone heard the same kind of thing?

Vivelle dot patch anyone?

Hi Sandy- I had my surgery on July 31st and am also on vivelle dot, same dosage as you. I am 47. So far, so good. I, like you, have not had any menopause symptoms. Yay! I have an appointment with my doc in November (3 month visit), and we will discuss decreasing the dosage then. I'm not sure how that is determined, but I am feeling great now! Did your doc say if he would decrease your dosage? I'm curious.

Vivelle dot patch anyone?

I tooam on the same. My dose is 0.075mg. I have been having night sweats and will be going to my six week appt thursday to see if I need to have the dose higher. I use the twice weekly patch due to a weekly not staying on all week. I wonder too about the risk...

Vivelle dot patch anyone?

I just switched yesterday from the Estradiol patch, .1 mg. I am using .05, and so far so good. I turn 45 in a week and a half, and I believe I'll be on it about 10 years as well.

I never had symptoms with the Estradiol path, but it was so darn big that it made me itch like crazy.

Vivelle dot patch anyone?

I have been using this since 2 days post-op - for the first few weeks my ob/gyn used 1 + hormone shot, and then 2 patches + hormone shot. Right now, he has me using (3) 0.1mg twice weekly. ALOT. I'm not sure why except if I use less, I'm an emotional mess. He said we will be able to decrease the further out from recovery we go.

Vivelle dot patch anyone?

From what I've been reading this is a very popular patch. I had a girl tell me that her gyn said he wants her on the 0.1mg patch for about 2 years because with a surgical menopause the possibilities of bone loss is much higher on a lower dose.

I'm almost a week post op, tomorrow--Friday, will be a week, and I'll be on the patch since the 2nd post op day...so far so good and I hope it stays that way. I found that the patch they used at the hospital was HUGE and bothersome, but the name brand is virtually unnoticeable! So far no problems with sticking either, but if I find that it doesn't stick so well when I am able to take my long, lingering baths again I'll buy some tegaderm at the drug store and it keeps patches like that virtually waterproof.

Thanks for the answers!

I gotta say, I still feel like crap a week out....just weak and the pain is still bad. I didn't expect this!

Vivelle dot patch anyone?

I'm on vivelle dot 0.1 twice a week, since day of surgery. I get hot, but don't know if it's hot flashes or the weather--I had that problem before. I am close to age anyway, at 50-1/2, so will be on gradually reduced doses for about 2 years. I do need to talk to DR about whether HRT is a good idea, though, because I started experiencing heart problems after surgery, and my cardiologist doesn't even know if it's related.

Vivelle dot patch anyone?

I'm using the .05 since surgery and haven't had any real problems. One or two times I could have sworn the heater was on full blast but as far as mood swings, none.

I am just waiting to see if my skin will start reacting to the adhesive like it did in the past. Used to get red rash and blisters where I put it.

Age 41.

Vivelle dot patch anyone?

same here...01 twice a week.
Started on them 6 days after surgery. On night 7 I experianced night sweats...OMG!!!!
I woke up soaking wet three times during the night and then was freezing. My sheets, pillow, hair and night gown were soaking wet. Thank GOD my mother was here to help out. She assured me this was normal night sweats as she helped me change my clothes and re made my bed with dry sheets.
The patch finally kicked in the next day.
I have not had any problems since.

I too am concerned with the side effects of HRT. I go for 8 week check up on 9/25 and plan to ask DR about the patch.

Vivelle dot patch anyone?

I went through various methods and now am on the Vivelle patch 0.1. My Dr also put me on Evamist/one spray a day, I felt the last couple of weeks and so I quit the mist and am just on the patch.

Other than the weight gain, I feel great, no hot flashes, night sweats, etc...I think that I will have to see if I need this strong of a patch, I want to make sure I use the lowest dose for only the time I need it. I give it a thumbs up.
