Yeast Infection??

Okay I am 8 days post-op from TLH .I have been on antibiotics for 13 days now and have a lovely yeast infection now. Doctors office is closed today, what luck, and I was curious has anyone else had a yeast infection this soon after and what did the doctor have you take? I really do not see using a vaginal cream so what? Oh can tomorrow come soon enough????

Yeast Infection??

Hi! Yes, I did have lots of external vaginal itchiness, which doc figured was a yeast infection. She gave me an Rx for Diflucan. I was about 10 days post op. It's a one dose remedy. Worked like a charm! You might just call the answering service and leave a msg for your doc. My doc said absolutely no external creams!

Yeast Infection??

I also had a yeast infection caused my antibiotic treatment. The antibiotics kill ALL bacteria...even the good ones that help to keep yeast under control. That is why we get yeast infections with antibiotic treatment.

I was also treated with Diflucan. It is a pill you take once. NO creams.

Yeast Infection??

Yeah that itching can cause such raw skin. Try using a warm washcloth to gently clean that area..and to lay across it to soothe the damaged skin. It may help relieve some of that awful itch. Also... try to keep the area dry and exposed to the air. Yeast grows in warm moist environments.

Hope you feel better soon! (DON'T SCRATCH)

Yeast Infection??

It happened to me too. The doctor also gave me the oral medication....one pill, much nicer than the cream method. I wish I hadn't read of the possible side effects though!! I was so uncomfortable that I jsut read them and swallowed the pill anyway! Hope you feel better soon!!!

Yeast Infection??

I've been on antibiotics 3 times for cuff cellulitis and ended up with a yeast infection every time. My doctor only allowed the oral med until after I made it past 8 weeks. I was able to use a prescription cream last week (10 weeks post op) for the first time. The Diflucan didn't completely cure my yeast infections, so I was really happy to get to use a cream - it did the trick. Hang in there -- there's an end in sight
