Advice needed, got appt for 1st appt soon

Hi ladies,

Just thought I would say hi and let you all know that I have had my 1st appt date come through for the 3rd Nov to see my Gyn. I am hoping for a hysterectomy as I have had years and years of pain from heavy bleeding, cervical abrasions and god knows what else. In Jan 08 I had an ablation and have not stopped loosing anything ranging from bloody to a brown gloopy stuff. My GP is under the impression that the ablation did not work and that I also have Fibroids and Endo. I know that Endo is NOT cured by a hysterectomy, but what kind of things do I need to ask about with my Gyn and discuss regarding the Hysterectomy?? Please help, I would appreciate any advice given.....

Advice needed, got appt for 1st appt soon

Hello Tezza,

I am scheduled for a LSH procedure on October 23, I also suffer from heavy bleeding that lasts up to 10 days on 8 days off and than the process starts over again.

Things that I found helpful : Researching any and all information on the many procedures that are available . This allowed me to keep up with the terminology during my surgical consult , it even allowed me to form questions at the appointment because I had a base knowledge of things that were available.

Even after all my research and initial questions it still required a second appointment for the rest of the questions that I formed as my surgery date gets closer and closer. But I'm feeling very good about the decision that I have made , I think this is because I have spent the time that I personally needed to feel confident in not only the idea of the surgery but the whole process and possible out comes.

I wish you the best in your journey and remember that power is knowledge

You can find a great list of pre-op questions here:

I printed it, added a few of my own and took it with me to my appointment. My dr answered them all for me.
