s, sweetie!

I'm sorry that you got this news, but glad that you immediately called your gyn onc. They will be the experts to have when any suspicion of cancer is possible.

I had a different kind of cancer, but know there are others here who will share their story. I just wanted to pop in and send you a

Let us know what you hear from your gyn /onc, and what step he recommends next.

Atypical squamous cells is the most frequent abnormal pap result and can be caused by several benign processes (inluding douching and sexual relations ). Definitely follow up with your doctor, but try not to worry too much.

Hang in there!!!

I'm sorry about the dx but there are many here with the same call and I am sure more will come along soon so don't hesitate to ask any questions; etc. You might also want to so a search of this forum. Working with a gyn/onc is the very best thing you can do. Pls keep us posted.

My first thought, why are you seeing a gyn and not your gyn/oncologist? He would know that this is very common soon after radiation. Please see your gyn/oncologist for your follow up exams. He knows what he is seeing and what is important and what is not. A regular gyn just doesn't have the same experience with cancer.

Best,
Janie

I agree with Denton. Although my follow-up appts are 5.5-7 hours away (depending on the route), I see my rad/onc for follow-up appts (my gyn/onc was not interested in follow-up). There are no gyn cancer experts within four hours of my small northern MN town, and I'm willing to take the time/spend the extra money to see someone who knows what she's looking at/feeling for. I, too, urge you to see a gyn/onc. Best to you -
