going nuts

Help!!! I am going nuts. I posted on here last night for the first time and I am having trouble navagating around this site. I am new and I am not computer smart..lol...I am having my surgery 5 Dec. Lavh or LSH with LSO. I have severe adhesions on my left side and not sure about the right yet. I was told this 10 years ago and I am just now having the surgery. I have been in pain on my lower left side that shoots down my leg. I can only sit for a few minutes before my lower side and leg hurt. This is only on the left side so my doc. really thinks the adhesions are doing this. I know I have severe adhesions and they need to be removed but we are also taking out my uterus and left ovary. Is this normal is this needed? I am so scared.......I am going nuts. I can't live with the pain yet I am afraid of surgery. I have had 4 surgerys before all for my pelvic pain and know the adhesions are a problem. Ok so I am just repeating myself. I just need some support....

Plenty of support here!

Post op pain is manageable. There is a whole arsenal of meds that can and will be used to help you manage pain. I'd bet you the north forty that you will have less pain post op than you have from your adhesions. If you can sit for only a few minutes..., well...my god, you must be in a really bad way! That sounds awful. You CAN'T want to live like that anymore!

As for whether or not the surgery is needed, ask your doctor exactly what you asked here. That's what he gets paid for. Tell him to convince you. You deserve as much peace of mind that he can give you.

thank you for the help. Yes I can only sit for a few minutes before it hurts. I am better standing and moving around. If I sit it feels like I am being squished inside. I will talk to my doc. some more about everything. Thank YOU so much..

I had similar pain for 3 years which ended up being from adenomyosis(in my situation) and Naproxen(aleve) helped. It could be pressure pushing on a nerve which sends the pain down the leg. I don't have that problem anymore...woohoo

Good luck
