Vaginal Cuff Stitches

I will be three weeks out from a TAH tomorrow (surgery was Sept 23), and I know this is about the time my vaginal stitches will start dissolving. Can this cause extreme ITCHING and a feeling like there's something in my vagina? There's no discharge, no bleeding, no odor, just this horrible itch! I almost want to stick a finger up there to see if there's anything in there, but I know that's a no no. Anyone else experience anything like this? TIA!

Vaginal Cuff Stitches

I feel like I am an expert when it comes to the vaginal cuff after everything I have been through. However -after twice now having my cuff stitched with different stitching even -and one surgery to remove it b/c it wasn't dissolving correctly, I have not experienced it itching. Maybe you have a yeast infection? I'm sure you know the difference but just a thought....Otherwise, either wait for your next appt to ask your dr to check it out or make an appointment if it is really bothering you. I can tell you from all of my experience and surgeries that my cuff has an 'edge' or 'corner' on the right side and not on left -so I think yeast or any cream you may be prescribed can get up in there and maybe not move outside of the body as quickly or easily. Also, when your stitches dissolve you usually see some residue when you wipe -just like brownish pieces.

I hope this helped some.

Good luck to you and happy healing.

May be worth a call to the doctor. You could be inflamed.

I agree with the girls above. I had several itchy infections after my surgery, none of which I ever got prior to the surgery!
