Diagnosed at 26 with cancer

I know how you feel, I had all those same concerns before my hyst. I had mine in March at age 30, 5 months after getting married for carcinoma-in-situ of the cervix.

I haven't gained any weight - I was REALLY worried about that since my body has been something I was proud of and I don't really do much to keep it how it is.

My orgasms are.......well, I can almost say they are better. Prob the SAME as before I found out I had cancer but better than I felt afterwards (had a thing with being self-conscious knowing it's up there)

I did kinda go into a depression - didn't feel like my husband was doing enough for me. In reality he prob was but I was emotional. Now, I feel great and have been for awhile. I took St John's Wort (hadn't ever taken that before) and it got me out of my emotional state and I've been great ever sense.

The swelly belly wasn't NEAR as bad as I had imagined.

If you do get it, take it easy. That's easier said than done. But I didn't take it easy (they said that's very common with people our age after a hyst) and ended up ripping back open, got an infection from it not healing right and etc. So, make sure you take it easy - if you do, everything should be just fine.

Good luck, hard decision to make,

Diagnosed at 26 with cancer

Jules- I am glad to see someone in somewhat of the same boat I am (unfortunately) I am 28 years old ( 29 in 1 week ) and I will be having a full hysterectomy in October. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999 and been having unexampled cysts in the past few months. After many months of monitoring and as you stated ovarian cancer is hard to detect and once you detect it, it can be too late. I have to have a preventative hysterectomy. I have 1 3 year old but had plans to have more, since my husband is the last of his name sake. I have been ovoiding the hysterectomy subject for fear of some of the same things you talked about. I will be having my ovaries and utereus also removed. So I too worry about the after effects. Unfortunately I can not take any hormones to control the hormonal roller coaster afterwards!! You sound like you are a strong willed dedicated person and I am sure will be just fine!

Just hang in there and thank heavens for this website!!!
