Zippered Pants after TAH?

I am about 2 1/2 weeks post-op after a TAH (bikini cut). I know it's too soon to expect to get back into my jeans yet, but I'm looking forward to an end to sweat pants! Size wise, I could probably fit into the jeans now even with the swellybelly because the the swelling is pretty much offset by the large size of the fibroids that were removed, but I can't imagine the tightness of the denim and the stiffness of the zipper across the incision yet! For anyone out there with an abdominal incision, how soon were you able to comfortably get back into your jeans and other zippered pants?

Thanks!

It personally took me several months, but I have some keloid scarring on my incision, so if anything is tight on it, it actually feels like my skin is being pulled. My new jeans all have some elastic, because to this day, if I am on my feet all day, I still have the swelly belly.

I can wear my jeans comfortably for about 4 hours and I am 9 weeks post op. I wear them as often as I can in the hope that I will be able to last longer but find myself back in the seat pants as soon as I walk in the house :-(

I think it is partly the unforgiving material although most of my jeans are stretch AND I have lost weight!

I have one pair of stretch jeans that I could wear 3 weeks post op. I am 5 weeks now, and tried to wear another pair, stretch denim, same size, and it was awful.

I wear sweats at home and for most errands. It is nice to know though that I have a pair of jeans I can wear if needed.

Since I came home from the castle, I have been wearing a soft cotton camisole (with a built in bra support). Then, I tuck the camisole into my underwear (sorry if TMI).

This has helped protect my incision and made me feel better. I initially did this because I did not buy the bigger brief underwear ahead of time and had only my regular string bikini underwear (which would cut off right where my incision was).

When I wear my stretch jeans, the softness of the cotton camisole helps protect against the rougher material of the jeans. It also helped with basically anything rubbing up against my incision.

I hope this makes sense and that I'm explaining it clearly. It really did help me. Rita.

i wondered this too. I'm 18 days post op and i feel great. I don't have any pain and my incision is healed. it still hurts a little if i lift too much or if something rubs it, but that's it.
so, i've read alot of stories here about being off work for 8 weeks and no normal activity for 6 weeks???
I am back at work full time. I took off 1 week, then worked part time the 2nd week. I DO work out of my office at home, but I do work full time.

I am not driving yet, but I see my dr this Friday and I hope to God he clears me.
Now, if i could only wear my jeans again!! i put them on but they are low rise and they hit right at my bikini line incision! and they are just a tad tight, not much.

so, Am I doing to much even though i feel like it? i feel like i am recovering very fast

Wow, Jeans. Been two weeks today. Look at them and won't even attempt it. Swelly belly is not that bad but my stomach is very sore to the touch and if I try to zip jeans I don't think I can do it. So, I'm living in yoga pants. Bought a few of them for now. Not going to sweat the jeans until my tummy feels stronger. Hard to realize that you can still have this swelly belly down the road also. Kind of depressing but heck, we're all alive and well. That's all that counts, right?

I wore my skinniest jeans last Friday which was exactly 5 weeks! I have lost 14 pounds but still have a swelly belly but my incision is a low bikini cut so nothing bothered it. Have been in jeans every day since and loving it!

Thanks for the replies. I guess I still have a few weeks to go before I can ditch the sweats, but at least I have hope!!

There are some really cute knit pants too. That is more fun to wear than sweat. I have the comfy yoga pants and some wide leg knit pants, REALLY pretty.

I am four and a half post op so I am doing well, zippers and all now. I know you are tired of this but it will all pass. Just make sure you keep yourself comfy.

I also love skirts! They felt fine a few weeks post op.
