My head is spinning!!

I have suddenly been thrust into the information overload
world of hysterectomies!! One year ago I had an ablation due to being severly anemic/heavy periods. That was great - I thought!! Eight months later I noticed some cramps, which I dismissed. Each month the cramps got worse and lasted longer. By October I was in extreme pain
every day for ten days. (I am a typical toughie!) Because I had not bled one drop since the Ablation, I thought the cause was something else. I saw my GYN. last week and my uterus is almost triple the normal size, and there is a large mass of blood and clots! I have been bleeding somewhat for several months and scar tissue from the Ablation is blocking the opening of the uterus, blocking the blood and clots from draining; thus the cramping getting worse each month. ANYWAY --- has anyone else ever had this happen? My GYN said this is rare??
Because these pains will start up again the beginning of the month, my GYN wanted to get me in as soon as possible; which is fine with me because I really can't stand this pain anymore!
I JUST turned 50 and am in good health, but this is all very overwhelming and so sudden! I have less than two weeks from today to get ready. ANY ADVICE or ANYONE ever hear of this or had it happen to you??

Thanks!! - THIS site is WONDERFUL !!!!!!!

My head is spinning!!

yellowroses, I am so sorry to hear you are going through this. While I had an ablation sadly it really did nothing for me. (stopped the clotting that about it) While I haven't had the same issue as you I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone in this. Perhaps one of the other ladies here will have more information for you.

Try to stick to the more upbeat posts if you are going into overload. When I first started searching the web on hysterectomy I almost canceled my surgery. There are so many out there trying to scare you into not getting it done.

Best of luck to you,
Cristy

My head is spinning!!

Thanks for your encouraging words Cristy!
So did you have a hysterectomy after your ablation? How long afterwards?
What type of hysterectomy did you have?
I will take your advice and try to stick to the encouraging threads.

Thanks for the hug, dressedupinblue! I could use a bunch of them right now! My family is wonderful, but doesn't seem to be taking this very seriously. I think because I have always been pretty tough that they think I can handle it. The more HUGS the better!!

My head is spinning!!

I had a TAH/BSO on Tuesday the 21st. Came home on the 23rd. I'll bet the pain after your hysterectomy will pale in comparison to the pain you're having now. Don't be discouraged and don't get frightened. There is a lot of information out there, but just remember we're all different. I'm full of encouragement and happy to answer anything I can. Your situation is different from mine, I'm sure, but I had very bad bleeding and was also anemic. I'm 43. I've not spoken to one person who doesn't say that having the hysterectomy was the best decision they've ever made. Stay encouraged and be positive.

My head is spinning!!

I had my ablation on July 21 2007 and will have my hyster on the 30th of this month. It will be a vaginal hysterectomy.
As soon as I can I will post and let everyone know how it went. There are a bunch of post-op recovery stories here that are helpful. Most people had a good recovery!!

Best of luck,
Cristy

My head is spinning!!

yellowroses76 I can empathize with you. I started having trouble in June and had a scope in July and wham bam thank you mam I had a hysterectomy in Sept. My head was spinning like yours, thus the name. It is hard but you don't have time to second guess yourself this way (for me that was a plus) and you will have it all over very soon. I will do all I can to listen and be supportive, the other ladies here are awesome! Believe everything happens for a reason and you will get through it.

My head is spinning!!

Wow! Glad I found this thread! Same thing with getting a little freaked out! I read all sorts of things last night and started to think ignorance was bliss, but I have more perspective now and certainly a better idea of what to expect. I had a hydra-thermal ablasion April 1, and it did not do much of anything to help the heavy bleeding and clots. I am now scheduled for abdominal hyst for Nov 20 and am glad I have a date. Still dropping clots every single day....nasty. My BF does not get it, and I am a toughie so no one thinks I am worried. I ordered a swelly belly band last night, and though it cost a lot, I think it will be a good thing. I am only taking 2 1/2 weeks out of work...will this be enough???? So glad to have found this site. Any friendly advice welcome!
