Over 5 years post op-bleeding after intercourse

I noticed some bleeding recently after having intercourse. Then I started having bad cramps like menstrual cramps. This happened for several hours. I have had cervix and uterus removed. The last time I had this was from scar tissue and that was within the first year after surgery. It was a new sexual partner, perhaps he just went too far and this is what happened. I think he feels really bad about it. He was already worried about it feeling "different" and now this. I don't know, but it was painful as heck and I hope it doesn't happen again. Anyone experience this? Should I contact my doctor or is it nothing serious to worry about.

(((peaches))) You need to contact your DR to make sure no treatment is needed. You may have some granulation, even this far post op, and your DR could treat it with silver nitrate to take care of it. Doing nothing puts you at risk for infection.

hi

Hi there,
Sorry you are having this problem, BUT, you know the answer already, and it is you must call the doctor and be seen. Good chance it is NOT anything serious. Chances are you could just need some lubrication, ecspecially if it has been awhile since you have had sex. But, you need to get seen by a doctor. I'm sure he/she can offer some suggestions to keep this from becoming a continuing problem. There are plenty of things over the counter you can try, but first, you need to be sure what caused the bleeding in the first place!

Well, I don't think it is lubrication. We were using some already. I am pretty sure he just went where no one had went before. I can't really get to the doctor right now because I have no time I can take off of work. I am having surgery next week for my gallbladder and that is the only time I can take. I am going to try and let i play out.

While I understand your concern about taking time off, honestly you need to see a DR about the bleeding *just in case*. Chances are it's "just" scar tissue and can be easily treated, but you don't want to find out a year from now that it's something that, if you'd treated it promptly, would not have been nearly the problem it could become.

Can't you at least call your DR's office and ask them whether or not they need to see you?
