Insurance just approved my surgery!

I just heard from the Insurance people and my surgery has been approved.......FINALLY! What a rollercoaster ride this has been trying to get approved. My Husband is the one who got it through. My Dr doesn't work with Military Insurance too much so she sent in her request as she normally would. They kicked it back and said no because I had not had a biopsy or recent pap. I had a pap that wasn't in my record(?) and I scheduled a biopsy for Thursday morning. My Husband in the mean time taught my Dr how to put in the proper consult since he has been in Military medicine for 24 years and knows how to do those with them and they called and said it was approved and I don't need the biopsy tomorrow! Saves me some extra pain. Like i'm not in enough pain already. I hung up the phone and got instantly nervous about everything I need to do and remember. I've started a list so I don't forget. I am SO THANKFUL for this website. It is a blessing to me. You know the saying that if you can make a difference in the life of just one person, you have succeeded......everyone who helps on this website has succeeded. I have a Sister that had an emergency hysterectomy about a year ago and her advice to me is to "stop being a pansy and buck it up" ? Obviously not the kind of advice I need. She has lots of anger issues! I can't be sucked into the negative side of things and I need to look ahead at the positives that can come from this. I am in so much pain from the fibroids that I spend most days taking bottles of Motrin and snuggling with my heating pad. I've been bleeding for months as well. I am a Mom and Wife on good days and I look forward to being the Mom and Wife I was before it got this bad. My stomach has swollen so much that I can't wear any of my clothes anymore. I was getting dressed the other day to take one of my sons to the Dentist and I thought I could wear my "fat" jeans.....NOT! I may have to get some new clothes. Sorry......I rambled on and on

Insurance just approved my surgery!

Teri
I've been following your posts about the difficulty with your insurance company, and was so happy for you that it was approved! I was just approved, too, so I share your relief. Unless someone has been thru it, they just can't imagine how hard it can be. I literally cried when I read your post. You said (so very eloquently) exactly what I've been feeling for so long. Especially the part about wanting to me the mom and wife that I used to be, before all of this started.

We are just stepping into the beginning of our new lives, hopefully, a much happier and healthier chapter. Now we can just be the My best wishes will be with you during your surgery, and I will see you on the other side, sister!

Insurance just approved my surgery!

Ellenfan,

Thank you so much and I agree that it is something nobody should have to deal with in the "state" we are in when we need this done. It is certainly NOT a choice I would have made for myself or my Family but it is what needs to be done. I am SO looking forward to Life After Hysterectomy! I am an active participant in life.....not a spectator on the sidelines as I have been for a long time now. Good luck to you
