I'm really disappointed...

It's not that big of a deal, but I'm still not real happy.

I thought that I had had my last ever period last month. I cleared out the space under my sink that has forever been occupied by feminine hygiene products. Tampons, mini pads, maxi pads, winged and unwinged...boxes and boxes of the stuff.

Then yesterday, I had my pre-op appt. I told my doc that I was assuming that I should just go ahead and keep taking my bc pills (I've been taking them for only a couple of months to stop my otherwise uncontrollable bleeding) up until the day of surgery. She said no, stop taking them now because they are high in estrogen, and the estrogen can make blood clotting during surgery more likely. That's fair enough, and I'm certainly willing to do whatever it takes to safeguard my wellbeing, but geez, another period.

And I can't take ibuprofen for any cramps I may have (no aspirin or ibu the week before surgery). AND I was sorta hoping to have a little hubby fun this weekend; when he heard this lovely news, he felt a little, well....um...deflated.

I'm really disappointed...

I am telling you, it never fails, AF is DETERMINED to show up one last time.

Also, if you are in alot of pain, ask your doc if you can take a prescription pain killer. I was able to take my Darvocet until the night before surgery.

I'm really disappointed...

Back in August, I started my period, and it lasted for 6 weeks, by which time I was bleeding so heavily that I began to wonder if I had any blood left. The odd thing was that I never felt any pain. My doc put me on BC pills to stop the bleeding, and I've had one period since. Again, no pain. I thought THAT would be the last period, but for reasons heretofore mentioned, I get to bleed one more time. So I am fairly hopeful that I won't experience really bad cramps. I'm just annoyed that it fouls up my plans for one last pre-op romantic interlude, kwim?

My doc did recommend extra strength Tylenol, so maybe that will help.

I'm just venting, really. I've had a rotten day.

I'm really disappointed...

I'm sorry that your plans have been spolied
Just think about the future though, without all those problems and maybe that'll help

Best wishes, I hope that the pain won't get really bad for you.

I'm really disappointed...

I stopped taking my bc pills 3 nights before surgery on my own, my doctor never said anything about taking or not taking them, and I did have intercourse with hubby the weekend before and didnt get my period, I would usually get my period about 5-6 days after I would stop taking bc pills.
