2 weeks post op concerns

Hi!

I am almost 5 weeks post op (TAH/BSO with panniculectomy).

It is normal not to have feeling around the area of the incision... this will take a while to come back since the nerves that were severed during surgery need time to regenerate. As the nerves regenerate there may be times that you feel tingley or other sensations...everyone is different and your doctor can also tell you a bit more about what to expect.

I also have a large lump/mass under part of my incision. In my case my doctors think it is a combination of internal incision knots (I had a lot of internal repairs near the same area) and fluid accumulation (which can be common after surgery) and that it should resolve on its own. However, you should let your doctor know about the lump and your concerns - especially if you have any discoloration around the area, the area feels hot to the touch, if there is any discharge (incision or otherwise) and/or if you have a fever. If you also have any of those symptoms, please call your doctor right away.

My doctor advised me to use a heating pad on the area a couple times per day, but please check with your doctor before taking any action.

Hope this helps!

2 weeks post op concerns

Hi, its 11 days post op for me. I have also got what I refer to as a shelf running along with the incision. It was numb but the last couple of days I can feel a little tingly and some parts are extra sensitive. ( like its nerve endings are all tingling) I think it is slowly "thawing". My bladder has been the same, kinda numb.
I don't get the urge to go as before, just a sort of fullness.
So I guess we are normal. Otherwise I am feeling fantastic, best thing I could have done.
Thanks for starting this thread, I was wondering the same stuff.
Chris
