What is the normal recovery time?

Hi Ladies

I had my surger done on October 23 and now recovering at home. I was shocked to find out that you bleed for a couple weeks post-op. I am not in much pain but have serious back pains. My doctor told me that the uterus had fused itself onto my intestines so pain will pass eventually and if the bleeding will pass; I should not worry but I do because sometime its bright red ... I am not filling up a pad but I suppose its just me. Does anyone know what is the normal recovery time? I am due back out to work in 4 weeks and my job is sedentry; including driving to and fro, I will be sitting fro a minimum of 10 hours ... would this be too much?

What is the normal recovery time?

Hi Xinom and welcome to Hystersisters! I'm glad you found us.

I would not have been able to sit for 10 hours a day at four weeks post op. Average recovery time is about six weeks. At that point, your DR should release you to go back to work and resume your normal activities, assuming you have been healing well. It may even be slightly longer for you given that you had a little more complicated surgery.

s,
-Linda

Oh yes the back pain... I went back to work after 4 weeks and did just fine. Dr. told me to wait 6 weeks.

What is the normal recovery time?

I did not have any vaginal bleeding after my surgery. It was nice! My doctor and the nurses told me that they expected that I wouldn't have any. I am currently at my four week mark and even though I sit at a desk for my job, I do not think I would be able to return to work yet. I am also at this point not ready to drive, as I am slow moving. I have been walking on my treadmill every day to get back up to speed. It does feel good! My doctor insisted I take a six week recovery period, so that is what I am doing. I don't want to hurt anything inside and have to deal with that. Good luck to you and take it easy!
