2 weeks post op tomorrow , still some pain

Im doing a lot better but still in some pain. I thought by now the pain would be gone. I have had many surgeries and this one is taking the longest to feel better pain wise. I think the worse is the bladder pain. My bladder kills me every time I use the restroom. My doctor said my bladder was so attached to the uterus it will take longer to heal at least the leaking as stopped My mom feels its my age (43) is the reason its taking longer to heal. My incision is looking great but the inside feels like somone has punched me in the gut.. I dont go back to the doctor till Dec 4th I just want to be normal again

Id agree that age can play a factor in recover as can physical fitness and genearl health

I was told 8 weeks before Id be able to get back into life - yet one week after my op I was back at work part time and by 4 weeks i was back full time, and this is with complications (got a cuff infection 24 hours after the op).

If your body is saying take it easy follow what it has to say to you, it know best in many regards.

Hi Cathie,

I felt the same way last week. It is still uncomfortable to go to the bathroom, but not the blast of pain that it was. If I'm just waking up and I lean forward while trying to pee it still hurts, but if I sit up straight I'm OK.
I think it may be the extent of surgery and a little (just a wee bit) of the age thing. I am 41 years young.

Just this past Thursday, I started feeling like myself again. You are one week later so give it a couple of days and see what happens.

Sorry you're still in pain.

I also had an issue with my bladder being adhered to my uterus. It took an extra hour in surgery just to separate the two organs! As a result, it took a little longer for things to get back to normal as far as my bladder function went.

I was 44 when I had my surgery, and I honestly don't think age has as much to do with things as your general health and the overall trauma of surgery. In your case, you had a little bit more done, so it's going to take a little longer to feel better. Just be very gentle with yourself.

My told me that as long as I was generally feeling better each week (don't take it by days or half-days, or you'll get too frustrated with the little setbacks) I was making progress. It was hard sometimes, but things really did get better in time.

Hope this helps.

It's very early days for you. I am 43 and am 7 weeks post op today and felt I turned a corner quite significantly last week. It was painful passing urine for several weeks and even now I am aware of it although it is much improved. You will be surprised by how different you will feel in a few weeks time again. Don't expect too much too soon.

I'm four weeks today! Wow, how quickly time is passing.

I'm still having the pain while peeing. It's worse toward the end, but it doesn't feel like a bladder pain, it's more like a surrounding your bladder pain. Very hard to describe, but a very tight feeling and quite uncomfortable. It's weird though, it doesn't happen every time I go.

Glad to hear it's normal and that it finally does resolve!

Hi Cathie

Sorry to remind you, but you have just had major surgery with complications and you are very early in the recovery process really.

You will feel better soon, honest. I seemed to notice the biggest changes at weeks 2,4,6 and 8 but sometimes had to remind myself quite how bad I felt on day 1 to see it.
