I'm so sorry you're feeling overwhelmed with this but you're not alone and I hope others will be along soon to share.

In the meantime, it may help you to try a Google Search of HysterSisters (towards the top right of every page) to find any similar concerns and, if you've not found it already, our <link> Hormone Page could prove very useful, too.

Sending all good wishes!

TAH/BSO and HRT dilemma ~ anyone else?

I had a TAH/BSO 1 1/2 wk. ago, and was placed on Premarin on the 3rd day post op. I am thankful that I have not had any hormonal issues at all post op. (Knock on wood)!!! My Dr. did give me options of all the kinds available and it was my decision to start the Premarin. He will, over time, decrease the dose as I would naturally with age and hormone levels. I am 35 and I guess still full of hormones at the time of my surgery.

I am also young and on HRT. I had the 'patch' at the hospital but I have since switched to a leg gel called Divigel estradiol .25 mg. I couldn't stand the dirt around the patch for 3 or 4 days at a time like a band-aid. The leg gel is easy to rub on and you are done. I am supposed to wean myself off it as I feel comfortable. I may start doing that next week. The first few weeks post-op, I was a crying mess but that seems to have died off. I hope to make a smooth transition soon.
