LSH... Post-oppers

I still can't make a decision on my dang cervix. My dr says it is totally up to me (which I love, but I am just totally up in the air). She has not had a single patient with mini-periods after she performs this surgery, but tells me it's possible, although a very small percent that have it. She does cauterize the cervix to further make sure that it doesn't happen.

So, for those who have had the LSH, do you have a mini-period?

Anyone have any advice?

i dont have mini periods and i'm 2 years post op. even if i did, i would still have chosen to keep my healthy cervix. a mini period is usually just spotting or staining, visable when you "wipe"..not an actual period. i'm very very happy with my lsh results and wouldnt do anything different. good luck with your decision!

I'm two weeks post-op from having a LSH?BSO. I choose to keep my healthy cervix, and rid myself of an unhealthy uterus and two unhealthy ovaries. My doctor explained to me before the surgery about the support the cervix provides and didn't recommend it being removed unless there were medical reasons. He found none while doing the surgery and left the cervical stump in place. Good luck with your decision and with your surgery.

Thanks ladies!

I had an abnormal pap 10 years ago, but nothing since (they got all the cells w/ a punch biopsy). I think that's why she's leaving it up to me...

I'm 9 wks post op from LSH..

I just had what I guess they would call a mini, mini, mini period. It came at the time I would have normally had my period and if I wasn't very aware of my body I would have never known what it was. After using the bathroom when I wiped there was just a tinge of brown on the toilet paper and just a smidgen on my underware. No where enough to even need for a panty liner. It last a couple of days.

I have no regrets in keeping my cervix and it helps me know that my ovaries, etc. are still working. The best thing was no cramps, no heavy bleeding for days on end, etc.

Good luck with your surgery. I feel so much better!! Even my PMS is better.

I have not had an mini-periods while I was on HRT. I am no longer on HRT, so I doubt I could at this point. (no ovaries)

I had debated the same issue. I decided keeping my cervix was more beneficial then dealing with possible mini-periods.

I kept mine and I am very very glad I did. I think I would have had a much harder time if I'd had it taken out... plus, I really think the benefits of having it are huge...
