Recovering with small children

God bless anyone having gone through this surgery but special blessings for those of you trying to recover from hysterectomy surgery while simultaneously trying to take care of small children!!!

I just spent 4 hours at my BFF's house while her three little munchkins ran under foot. 3 girls -- a 5 year old with downs syndrome, a 3 year old, and a 1 year old.

All I was there for was to visit and help make my famous cheddar drop biscuits for Tday celebration... and I am EXHAUSTED! Probably more mentally than physically... but STILL!!!

I raised two kids... I ran a day care for years... but memory has a way of fading... softening... and then WHAMMO! Right back in your face.

So how are you managing??? Did you have someone come and help? Wow... I just can't even imagine. I have just these two little dogs and sometimes they look at me with the 'please can we go outside?' look... and I think, again?

Off to church Tday meal...

Recovering with small children

I had my sah on Nov 17 and I have 3 kids--7, 5, and 3. My hubby is here this week with me but to tell you the truth he's not that hands on with the kids. I've been recovering well and jumped into my old routine the minute I was discharged--you just have to. I read to them a lot and play games. I haven't felt bored, since I don't have time to. I think the kids keep me more active than I would have been and it's been good for me.

Recovering with small children

I have a 3 and a 1 year old!! And they have both pretty much been sick since my surgery!! I haven't sent them to a sitter once although the thought has crossed my mind!! Sometimes I feel like I'm gonna lose my mind but I'm just thankful that I have them!! My DH pretty much takes care of them all weekend and the evenings but I've got the rest!!!

Recovering with small children

I have two children they are 13 and 14 but my 14yr old daughter is Autistic, in diapers, and non-verbal. I'm not married and been pretty much on my own after the first week. I couldn't do it without the grace of God. At first it was very rough being alone but thank God for school. I used that opportunity to get lots of rest. Being alone with kids and no help after you've had surgery can really start to make you feel helpless. I feel alot better now. I have a cyst on my right ovary now thats causing me some problems and pain but everyone thinks I should be back to the "old me" since its been 4 weeks now. Thats so not the case. If you can get help. get it and if you have it and you think that people are treating you like a baby, let them do it and remember there are those who wish that they had half the help.

Recovering with small children

I have 2 children they are 2 he will be 3 when I have my surgery and I also have an 11 yr old. I am lucky that my DH will be able to take time off of work to help with them. Then I have my mom who will be here every other day. On the days she is not here my DH will drop our son off. On weekends I will have a sitter to stay here with us. I am having a TAH anyone have any advise on how to handle the 2 yr old. Also I was wondering if I should go ahead and start potty training. My mind is racing even though I have until March. Helppppp.

Recovering with small children

I'm worried too. I have a 2 year old and a 6 month old. I work full time so the kids will just stay in daycare like usual. But, I'm afraid of what the house will be like. I do the laundry and grocery shopping! DH does help a LOT with the kids, but I still do a lot too. My surgery is Friday so I'm trying not to think about it too much. :-) My 2 year old isn't potty trained but she can climb up and down from her changing table, which will help me change her.

Recovering with small children

I have a almost 2 yr ld, 3 yr old and a 14 yr old. my husband took off one week, then my grandmother came to help. she goes home wednesday. i don't know what i'm going to do without their help as i'm still so sore and extremely tired all the time. it will be rough, i'm sure. i didn't realize it would take so long to recover from this. Had TAH/BSO on dec. 23. I want to be a good mom, but this is much harder than I had imagined.
