Finally got the date!

Well, this morning, I finally found out the date of the surgery...January 5th. I am getting a Laparoscopic Vaginal Hysterectomy with the possibility of the abdominal if its bad when the doc goes in. I am getting everything removed and will go on low dose estrogen afterwards.
My hubby wants to take a weeks vacation to watch me ...I guess I have a "problem" with getting up and doing things too soon after surgery. But not this time. I am going to do everything I am supposed to because I want no complications and I want to be completely healthy. I want to get back to exercising asap (upon approval of course to get rid of the 25 pounds I have gained from being trapped in bed or on the couch with a heating pad and doped up on pain meds. I have to say, I am excited! I am sick of the pain!!!
Anyway, just wanted to share and ask for any advice I am going to read thru posts
Have a wonderful day!!!!!!!!

Finally got the date!

MWPA good for you. I had surgery 8/05/08 and I feel great. I understand where you are coming from. I had TAH/BSO. I am back to exercising which I hadn't been able to do for a long time because of pain and also had gain weight. It is coming off now.
My hubby was able to take off 3 weeks when I had mine. It was great to have the time together.
Make sure you have some soft, comfy lounge pants for post surgery. I went to WalMart and picked up some Hanes jammy pants and night shirts. They were very comfy. Also I bought panties in a size bigger to give my belly room for swelling.
Click on the checkpoints link at the top of the page for some great tips.

Congrasts

Congratulations. I know how it feels to be officially on the way to relief!

Remember about exercising to really be conservative when following doctor's orders. When you hear of bad outcomes of scar tissue/adhesions forming, it's often due to doing too much too soon. And once those are there, you have to fight with them with surgery(s), which can cause more surgeries, etc. So remember that when thinking about "pushing" the limit. I think a lot of us will have issues with that.

Take care,

Kara :xmas2:

Finally got the date!

Thanks ladies
I most definitely am going to do everything by the book. I refuse to live life ...like a prisoner. Honestly, that is how I have been feeling. And I find myself so angry at times. But I tell ya, Since getting the call to set up an official date, I have been singing and smiling all day. Now, as my hubby pointed out, I do have some other health issues...one of which is my lower back (due to 2 car accidents and falling down the steps after passing out ) but this has been.. well, I know you ladies know how it feels
I am so happy!!!!!! And good luck to the other ladies with upcoming surgeries!
