What type of pain is expected after TAH/BSO? I don't feel any lower pelvic pain. Pain is in stomach area - pulling, tearing, ripping and searing. Surgery report stated adhesions were removed. Do you think this is causing my distress? I can't sleep hardly at all and ibuprofen doesn't help with this type of pain.

Hi Brenda, I am 2 weeks 1 day post-op and I know exactly what your feeling. I think we are feeling all that healing up inside. My doc said it can take 6 months for the insides to totally heal and for the body to close up the empty space inside. If you are hurting a lot maby doc could give you a little something stronger for the pain, or want you to see you. This too shal pass, and we will soon feel great!

Hi, I didn't have any pain in my tummy at all unless I did too much. If it doesn't get any better, I would call your dr. I Had my surgery 11 weeks ago and this past Sat. I was dancing at the AC/DC concert and oh my. I woke up in the middle of the night and I had a grinding pain in my upper belly. It was sore for a few days. It does take quite a while to resume normal activites!!

Hi! I am much further along in my post-op (surgery 7/29/08) but I am still having pain. My pain is on my lower right side abdominal area and some pain in my right hip. My doc says that it is most likely scar tissue but I am thinking something different. Intimacy hurts (yet again) so i avoid my husband like the plague. She told me to take motrin but other than that not much else. I am so tired of living in pain I thought the hysterectomy (partial for adenmyosis) would be my answer but I am still miserable.

My pain is mainly in my left ab sides. But like the rest its worse when I over do. I had adhesions too and I figured out I must have pulled or tore a ab muscle on my left side. When I bend over or just tighten up those muscles I get a ripping feeling or as I call it the rice crispy tingles. Its a crackly feeling that just runs along the muscle. I started to wear a waist belt I got out of the athletic section from a store. Its meant to sweat you thinner but I find the heat and the support helps. Course I only wear it at home since it does make u sweaty lol. But man it feels great.

Thank you, ladies for commiserating with me. It is so hard to know when pain is normal part of healing and when to start being concerned. I see the surgeon first time post op at six weeks.
Happy Holidays! & wishing you some fun pleasures.

I went to my GP about 3 weeks out as recovery seemed to be a bit slow. He said you will have pain for 3 months. I am now 7 months and have various sensations and slight pain and still swell, it takes a long time with TAH.

Thanks, MountainWoman2. I guess some doctors keep us in the dark and hope we don't complain. I have many questions for my surgeon when I finally get to see her. Just knowing it takes awhile, helps. I appreciate your responses. Happy Holidays!
