ok can you tell I'm getting nervous or else excited, asking questions now.

I assume I should not wear any jewelry (rings or earrings) when I go in, but what about bringing your purse?
I hate to have things stolen from it, but if I need something from it? Pens, money.....I don't know what else??
I would need my insurance card, do I need a drivers license to show for ID? I suppose hubby can take my purse but I don't think he'd want to be seen with it!

I was told to keep valuables at home. Left purse at home. Hubby took my insurance cards and drivers license when I was finished with them. I didn't need any money while there. Everything I thought I needed hubby brought to me.

I left my purse at home, and had a small bag that i left with my overnight bag that contained my insurance card, a puzzle book, some money(not very much), and a note pad with important phone numbers, plus my cell phone. That way my husband only had to carry my overnight bag with whatever else I needed and didn't have to worry about my purse. I also gave him a short list of phone numbers of the people I wanted him to call afterwards to let them know I was ok. I'm guessing you just want this overwith as I did, so you are anxious, nervous and excited. Good luck and keep us posted. You will want to leave all jewelry at home too.

I did the same as MrsMAK. It turned out I did not need my health card or ID as they took all the information down when I had my pre-op. My husband took care of the TV rental fees so I really did not need any money.

Hope this helpls.

I think how soon they let you go from the hospital also depends on the time of your surgery. If its early moming on Monday then they may let you go home on Wednesday, if the surgery isn't until afternoon then they may not let you go until Thursday. So it all depends on your stats too.

The only jewelry I kept on was my wedding band which they taped over.

I did take my purse but really didn't need it!

I had to take my insurance card and d.l. but only because I didn't get to do preregistration. If you can do your pre-reg the day before surgery you shouldn't need anything. After the registration, I gave mine to DH. I took my laptop and Ipod, but DH kept it until I was in my room (private). I didn't take much so everything fit in a tote that he didn't mind hanging onto for a couple of hours. Didn't have any problems with the stuff I did take, but was only there 1 1/2 days.

I didn't take my purse, although I did take my insurance card although I didn't need it. I had my iPod and cell phone with me after my surgery, and I just kept those in a small bag on my table. If you wear glasses, you may want to take a case. I didn't, and although the nurse found a small cloth sleeve for them, if my husband hadn't taken better care of them they could have been bent.

If you really want to have your purse with you, place it inside a backpack so your husband is comfortable carrying it. My husband carried my stuff in a paper bag that the hospital gave me to put my clothes in (my pre-op room was different from my post-op room).

I did take a pen and small notebook, just in case I woke up and couldn't find the energy to speak. (I don't know why I thought I would have the energy to write a question if I didn't have the energy to say something.)

I did not take a purse...of course, I carry such a small one anyway that there was nothing in it I would need. Seriously, my purse is 5 inches long by 4 inches tall and about 1 inch thick. Soooo.

The only thing that I *may* have had with me was my insurance card.

As far as jewelry....I left it all at home.
