immune system/hpv info

Hi everyone!!
I wanted to share what I found out at GNC today.

I've been trying to strengthen my immune system to help fight the high risk HPV that I have.

I read that too much iron can help a virus to thrive. So after speaking with my dr., we decided a multi-vitamin without supplemental iron would be best for me.

Also, I read that the mercury fillings kids of my generation have, can weaken your immune system!! I have to talk to my dentist about that.

Other than these 2 bits, everything I've read here has checked out great...Thank you sisters.

This is only my experience, please read up and check it out with your dr. I'm only passing on info., not advice. OK?

I wasn't aware of either of these!! Thanks for the info!! It's a shame about the iron since I always feel so run down!! Did you learn of anything that WOULD be beneficial???

I just finished reading in Prevention magazine that asparagus is supposed to be great for your immune system. Be careful not to overcook it though. Also, I've looked at the ingredients of several immune tonics/soups and they include ****ake mushrooms.

I didn't know about the iron thing. That's good info. I don't take iron (I haven't been anemic since I was 8), but I'll think carefully about it should the need ever arise.

About the fillings--I have read about that. And the mercury kind of slowly seeps into your system. Unfortunately, I've also read that when you remove them, a bunch seeps into your system at once if they're not very careful, so often times it's recommended just to leave them in unless they are in bad shape. Fortunately, I only have 2 fillings so I'm hoping it's not taking too much out of me. Anyway, that's just what I've read--I haven't talked to my dentist about this specifically.

That's all the new info I have. Thanks for bringing this immune thing up again Transplant.

This is interesting Transplant. Does this mean that I should back off the liver (yes, I'm weird: I love liver and onions!) and the extra iron vitamins? I just bought the vitamins, so haven't started taking them yet. Think I will do some more checking before I do. Thank you for this thread!
Warmly, Pam
