They Rescheduled My Surgery-UGH

I have surgery scheduled for 1/15 to correct the mistakes from my hyst of 3 years ago - remove my cervix, remaining endo and what is no doubt an abdomen full of adhesions that have crippled my life for the past 3 years. This has been a horrible road leading up to another surgery that I've been both anticipating and dreading! Then, they call me this morning and go "the dr isn't available on the 15th"...please note I scheduled this surgery more than 3 months ago, and it was his first available date!! I fell apart and demanded that the doctor call me personally. He did, and admitted that they knew of this conflict a month ago and "thought they had cleared his schedule" until yesterday when he saw me on the books. If this is how this so called specialist runs his scheduling, I'm kinda nervous about my surgery - which they've rescheduled for the 1/28. I know that doesn't sound like a big deal, but I've made adjustments in my life to fit this surgery, including having to arrange coverage for 6 weeks at my job, getting my bosses all set for my leave, not to mention the emotional stress. I know there isn't anything I can do, but I just needed to vent to the one group of people I know can understand what I'm going through!! Thanks ladies! ~Katie

Sorry Katie. I know how stressful it can be to have everything set and ready to go and then....It changes that fast. I hope that you can fix your work schedule for your new surgery date. That happened to me for my last surgery...I had someone to take my dd to and from school and took time off work and my parents made plans to come down as well as my dh put in for vacation to help me out after surgery.

I will keep you in my thoughts, if you need to vent (anytime) I am here.....I have been venting alot lately myself.......

Katie- Oh sweety I am so sorry that they have rescheduled your surgery date. It does make it very hard when you have everything planned and ready to go. I am having surgery to clean up adhesions and just found that I have to move it back until the end of this month or the beginning of the next (the doctor is supposed to call next week with the date). Mine was work related though. Its still hard to get all of your "ducks in a row" only to have someone coming running through and mess everything up. I hope that you are able to get everything worked out with your new dates and it doesn't cause you to many problems. Like Lisa said, you are welcome to come here and vent anytime you need to, thats what we are here for!

Thanks ladies! When it comes to my health issues, I don't know what I'd do without this site. I do feel a bit better today. Work was wonderful in the change in schedule; we've been downsizing and they no longer use temps, so fortunately that wasn't an issue, it's just going to be a few of the other women covering my desk assignment while I'm out. My supervisor reminded me of my own philosophy in that everything happens for a reason, and this is probably no exception. Maybe something was going to happen at the hospital that would have caused a problem with my surgery on the original date. So, I'm just thinking positive thoughts again and reminding myself that there is still light at the end of the tunnel! Thanks again ladies...the new date is exactly 3 weeks from today!! Lisa & Jessie - good luck to both of you on your upcoming surgeries; please keep us posted on how things go and your recovery. I am sending a to both of you! ~Katie
