Surgery postponed!

Has this happened to any of you ladies out there ? I was due for my SAH today (after waiting since September) and got a call last night telling me that there were no beds available at the hospital (this is a major urban center!) and that they would try to reschedule me "soon"!

I was so disappointed, and today I've progressed to really ticked off!!! As if you couldn't tell by all my exclamation marks....
My mother was scheduled to fly here tomorrow and now she won't be able to come to help us out as she is going south for the winter. Work was all lined up for the next 6 weeks, and now all my projects will be out of whack, arrgghhh. To add insult to injury, I started what I thought would be my last period from hell yesterday, and didn't stock up on enough tampons 'cause I thought I wouldn't need the usual 3 boxes!

Just wanted to vent- thanks for listening.

I am so sorry this happened to you. You worked so hard to weave together various threads so everything could work, and then it all fell apart. You'll figure out a way to make it work, but you are more than entitled to vent.

Hang in there!

I'm so sorry that happened to you
I have seen other posts about the same thing, so it does happen from time to time.
Hang in there, I hope that you get rescheduled soon.

Best wishes.

Surgery postponed!

Hi there

I know how you feel, the exact same thing happened to me! Bed crisis at the hospital thus surgery cancelled. I was supposed to have my op last Monday, 12th. I too had everything organised, my mother was traveling to come and stay with me to help with our children (4). I work with my husband in our own business and had set everything up for when I wasn't going to be around. Then BANG.....phone call! It is awful! As well as having to prepare and organise your life there is also the mental and emotional preparation, you get yourself all set only to be let down. To add insult to injury my period started yesterday, that too was something I didn't think I was going to have to go through again.

I have now received my new date, Monday 26th and just hope and pray it will not be postponed again. Lots of sisters say the waiting is the worst part, I really hope you get a new date soon, I felt marginally better when I got mine.

My thoughts are with you, hang in there sister.

Wow. This must be very hard on you. My prayers go out to you. One gets all revved up and ready. I personally would call later this afternoon and see if they have sorted this out. Don't wait for them to call you. A squeaky wheel so they say....
You are so so entitled to vent. Keep us posted.

Sorry this happened to you. Maybe they will be able to schedule you sooner then you think and your mom still can come. I guess I am greatful since I live in a small town and anything that is major goes to the big city so they really dont have bed issues here.. Hoping your surgery is scheduled real soon so you dont have to have any more periods from hell !

Thanks to all of you for your kind words- it really helps to know that others understand how I feel.

Danger 123, I took your advice and called, and was flabbergasted to hear they'll take me next Wednesday, less than a week after the original date. I think it's too late for my mom to come help, but we'll survive.

So now, I'm enjoying a nice glass of Shiraz, which I didn't expect to be doing tonight, and I don't have to do much grocery shopping this weekend, seeing as I stocked the pantry pretty well last week

Although I'm sorry original plans fell through, I'm glad that you at least don't have to wait for several weeks for this. Enjoy the Shiraz and try to relax for a few days.

FANTASTIC. Everything happens for a reason. I am so happy that you are going in soon. Enjoy that wine and do something fun and active for yourself if you can. You will be nice and "still " for a while and might enjoy some activity while you can still do it.

Well, I am glad it is all working out, but I can understand the irritation you felt. I know I would be the same way.
