Pressure in my rectum

Uruale 33,

Pressure in the rectum does not necessarily mean you have a rectocele. It can be indicative of many other things like hemorrhoids, nerve issues, spasms, constipation, etc.

That said, it can also be normal healing pain because the tissues are all swollen in the vicinity. And pelvic nerves can sometimes get "mixed up", ie: sometimes uterine pain can be felt as rectal pain/pressure, etc.

If it makes you feel any better, I will be two weeks post op tomorrow and have been feeling the rectal pressure and I hate it!! It is not bothering me today, but sure was several days ago. My dr. said, "probably healing pain". So don't worry too much. During the healing process, I am finding myself to be experiencing all sorts of new sensations/discomforts.

Pressure in my rectum

It's great to have you join us!

If you've not found it already, please check out our <link> Post-Op Page which is packed with information for your recovery. Also, when you have a moment, it would be very helpful if you could complete your Member Survey since this includes information such as why you had surgery, what type/which procedure and whether or not you kept your ovaries, etc. You can do that by clicking here: HERE.

If you've had a rectocele repair then please don't worry about still feeling similar pressure to that you had previously since it takes a while for the area to heal and for the swelling to go down. Some ladies, who've had a hysterectomy without repair surgery, also report a feeling of pressure. Please don't hesitate to contact your doctor sooner than the appointment if you're at all concerned.

Sending all good wishes for a smooth recovery!

Pressure in my rectum

I feel pressure in my rectum when I sit down. I have been having problems with constipation so I'm trying to be more diligent with taking stool softeners and drinking prune juice. Being constipated can make you feel terrible, including having bad headaches.

Best of luck in your recovery!
