Hernia questions

Hernias have now come into the picture. I never thought it could be a hernia. Do they normally show up in ultrasounds? I am no stranger to the ultrasound and nobody has ever said anything about seeing a hernia or do they have to be diagnosed with CT?

Hernia questions

I just had open hernia repair last wed. Jan 14th. I had ongoing pain that my gyn. couldn't find even during surgery. My GP finally had me go to a general surgeon. My first visit to see him he told me that he thought I had a hernia. I told him that I had several u/s and ct's and that a hernia never showed up.He told me that they need to write on the script to look for hernia's or they are missed most of the time. He also did my ct w/ contrast which I am allergic to but he pre medicated me and I was fine. The test confirmed 3 hernia's and when he opened me up he found 1 more!! Mine where all in a downward direction that is why I couldn't see them. Well good luck I hope you find relief soon. I<oops! please keep support online! thanks>

Well, that might explain why my doctor thought he saw evidence of what might be an old hernia during surgery but there was nothing noted about it on the CT that was done just prior.
I'm allergic to the contrast too, so you'll have to tell me what they did to keep you from having a reaction.
I'm glad that you are doing so well now and not having pain!

Hernia questions

Mich,

The dr. perscribed me a steroid the night before the proceedure and the morning of. During the test the tech. will watch you closely to make sure you don't have a reaction. I took the test at the hospital. If any reaction the staff could have given me something then. I was fine. I was nervous, and for nothing really...I hope you can find out soon if in fact you do have a hernia. I am feeling so much better. Good luck and keep in touch.
