Surgery 01/26/09 - Questions about labs

Well the countdown has started. Dh was a sweety and fixed a nice early dinner tonight. I'm not allowed to eat after 6pm so of course at 6:01 I was suddenly starved. LOL! The hard part is going to be not drinking after midnight. I have to work until 5:30am and usually have a drink setting at my desk. Starting to get nervous. I just hope that this is the end to my surgeries. I will update Monday night (if my dh doesn't catch me ) otherwise I will post sometime Tuesday.

Quesion about lab work. I went around and got the results of my pre-op lab work and was hoping maybe one of you could help. I have low red blood count and hemoglobin. Thats always low and has actually come up alot since my hyst so I'm not worried about that. However my potassium is also low. Does anyone know anything about potassium? Something else that kinda worries me is that they found blood in my urine but no infection (although I did have just a slightly elevated white blood count). Is that unusual? Thanks for any input.

hi

I can tell you I have had blood in my urine (microscopic) for
13 YEARS! I have had all the work up, 3 times, and I have told ebery doctor who has since found it to leave me alone! I was told by the uro that 95 % of people with hematura (micro blood) have no reason for it, and it is just natural for me. Actually, my 30 year old daughter & 81 year old mom also has it! The other stuff you asked, I know nothing about. BUT if they are going to operate anyway, I would not think it is a big deal.
Good luck with your surgery! I know how hard this is.
