Hi, my name is Deb and found this site a few weeks ago when i found out that i needed to have a hyster. I have found so much info from many of the ladies that have posted messages here. Thank you for a wonderful place to come and be put at ease. My surgery is set down for the 3rd of Sept and would love to hear from any of you that are going in around the same time. Also from anyone who has been through a LAVH recently(which i know is probably many of you).

Looking forward to your replies.

Deb

Hi Deb Welcome to Hyster Sisters. I'm so happy you've found us and have found the site useful. I know that it was a life saver for me when I was waiting for my hyst and when I was recovering.

Looking forward to getting to know you.

Hello Deb & Welcome!

I had my LAVH/RSO July 5th and am doing really well, and feeling better than I have in years. I had my surgery because of Endometriosis, Adenomyosis, & Ovarian Cysts and had suffered terrible pain for years, I am now pain free for the first time I can remember in years!
Why are you having a hysterectomy if you don't mind me asking? And will you be keeping your ovaries? I'm just curious by the way.

I was terrified before my surgery and thought I would never get through it....the waiting was nearly more than my mind and spirit could handle....but I made it after all I'm happy to say. The waiting is the worst part of all of it.

I only stayed in the castle a little over 24 hrs, I know that doesn't sound like a long time but I was eating, walking, could shower, gas was moving as were my bowels so I got to come home.
I was on a morphine pump for pain immediately following surgery and had it for about 16-18 hrs and was then given oral pain meds. I was not in terrible pain, now I won't lie and say I had no pain but it really wasn't as awful as I had built it up to be in my head! I had a catheter for 16-18 hrs afterwards also.
Once home I had a some problems with constipation, pain meds can cause this, but used Milk of Magnesia and was ok.

On the home page of this site there are pull down menus toward the bottom of the page, one of these is "LIW" and it has a list of things to take with you to the castle I highly recommend you check this out. As well as some the other lists there is some great info there!!!!

I hope all goes as well with you as it has for me, and will keep you in my thoughts & prayers for an uneventful castle stay and smooth recovery!!!

If ya want to talk, just need extra support, or want more details about my surgery feel free to :email: (address is below my signature) me anytime!! Be glad to help out anyway I can!
Good luck!!!!

Hi Deb!

My surgery is day after yours. I'm having LAVH with AP repair, still deciding on the ovary issue. Had pre op at hospital today...ugh! Welcome to the boards!

Feeling welcome

Just a big thank you to Dany, Flygurl33 and Karena, for replying to my first post. My reasons for having my hyst are ovarian cysts and pre-cancerous(cin 3) lesions on my cervix, not to mention the constant bleeding over the last 8 months. I am soooo looking forward to doing away with the dreaded daily curse of it all, but at the same time, pretty scared about the whole thing.

Thanx again for taking the time to reply and I will keep visiting here frequently to find out what lies in store both pre and post op.

hi deb and welcome to this wonderful site. i also have an ovarian cyst and am scheduled for an LAVH on tues. (yikes) he may have to change it to TAH but i am really hoping to go the easier way. i have spent the last few weeks reading this site and posting messages and i feel MUCH better about my surgery. one thing i love is that no question is too personal or too gross to ask and someone (ususally lots) has had the same problem and can answer. so welcome to our world. cynthia
