Plane @ 5 wks, 6 wk check up today... Good news!

Hi All!
Well, I made it through the plane ride to Chicago! Landing at O'Hare was painful though. I was told that it was because the planes come down much faster there since the runways are shorter. I don't care what the reason was, I just know that I don't want to do it again! It hurt so bad that at first I was afraid I would die, then I was afraid I wouldn't! It was awful! Coming home was great, we had no problems at all!

Today I had my 6 week post-op check up. All looks good. Given the ok for sex and all that jazz. Still not allowed to do yard work (cut the lawn even on my tractor) so that was a little bit of a set back for me, but HEY! More time off from Wifehood!

I can't believe how much better I feel! I remember 4 weeks ago I wouldn't have beleived anyone who tried to tell me I would feel better in the near future! I sure am glad you all were right! I even gave away all those THINGS I won't be needing! That REALLY made me feel better!

Not running laps yet, but feeling much better! Thanks to all who helped me get this far! The race isn't over, but I think I can see what looks like a finish line!

Good Luck

Kathy, sounds like you're well on the road to recovery. Don't get discouraged because your Dr told you there were some things you still can't do. The 6-8 week post-op period still is critical. We feel better and start to do more. Remember to listen to your body and get rest when you need it.

Glad to hear you're feeling better!

Hi Kathy,

We're almost hyst-twins, mine was 7-12-01 and I also just got the go-ahead for sex. Yeehaw!

I am so happy to hear that you are feeling so much better and your spirits seem to have improved - you don't even mind not getting to cut the lawn and that is an improvement! I can believe landing hurt - if a pothole sneaks up on me when driving it still twinges - so a rough plane ride would be so much worse.

Take care and enjoy your new freedom - I am just settling into mine and still catch myself thinking, "So - when am I due for my next period again?" Hee hee! Kinda like winning the Lotto, it must take time to adjust to having all that money (though I know I could adjust).

TAH 7-12-01 kept one last ovary

6 weeks post op--hooray!!

I agree with you totally--3 or 4 weeks ago I thought I would never feel better but surprise--there is life after a hysto. I'm still not walking as fast or exercising yet like I used to but I do believe it will happen now. I'm not quite sure what I should or shouldn't do yet when it comes to exercise but I will let my body be my guide and listen to it when it tells me I am overdoing it. I go back to work on Monday (yuk) but it will be good to get back into some sort of routine again. I am promising myself to rest--I never really used to do that before. I have learned so much from this experience. Glad to hear you're feeling better too. We're on our way!!!
