Am I addicted to Percocet?

I had a total abdominal hysterectomy and tummy tuck (I know. What was I thinking?) on February 6. I am a couple days past the 4 week mark. I was taking percocet - about 8 pills a day and feeling pretty good. I cut down to 4 pills a day and still felt good. I tried cutting them out altogether and after about 30 hours, my husband practically begged me to take one last night. If I don't take the Percocet, my middle feels like I have a bad sunburn and everything hurts it. I also get some back pain and thigh pain. I feel mentally down too. I haven't taken a Percocet yet today (it's 2:00 pm) and still feel pretty good. When I quit the Percocet, am I going into withdrawal or do I need the Percocet for awhile longer. Nothing over the counter seems to help. I have about 40 pills left.

Am I addicted to Percocet?

I would speak to your doctor about the pain mangement first thing in the morning. To me it sounds like you still have awhile before the pain will be controlled with OTC's.

Take care and I hope you feel better soon

Am I addicted to Percocet?

I think you really need to talk to your . You also may be doing TOO much. Even though you are several weeks out, your body may not have healed. Since you were taking the drugs, you FELT great and in turn, you might have been doing too much.

Also, are you taking anything in place of the percocet? I alternated between my narcotics and motrin. You might talk to your doc about that as well.

I hope you get some answers soon.

Am I addicted to Percocet?

you should probably talk to your dr about alternating with prescription strength motrin or something similar. do you have an abdominal binder that you wear 24 hours a day? when i had my mini tt, i wore one and when it was off, it was uncomfortable. i had to wear it 24/7 for about 8 weeks...only off to shower or to wash it.

Am I addicted to Percocet?

I have been wearing the binder, but the doctor said I could leave it off starting at 4 weeks, so I'm trying to wean myself off the binder......and the Percocet. I also have probably been doing too much since I want so much to get back to normal before I return to work in 2 weeks. I will call my doctor's office first thing Monday morning. Thanks to everyone!

maybe you should wean yourself off of the percocet first and leave the binder on for comfort...and once youre comfortable with motrin or something similar for your pain, try taking the binder off some. after 8 weeks i was told to sleep in it only..leave it off all day.
