I have a surgery date

June 24th is the day....and I couldn't be sadder about it.

I am suppose to have a laproscopy done and also will be having a bladder suspension/lift and some rectum repairs.

I have no idea what to expect....except sadness. I'm scared to death.

If anyone could please share with me what to expect and not to expect, I'd greatly appreciate it.

ETA: Do I need to get a swelly belly thing? (I think that's what they are called) Are they more helpful after surgery?

Re: I have a surgery date

Hi Ice Princess

I'm so sorry to know that you're feeling sad about your surgery. It's hard to enough for some of us to handle the fear and anxiety without sadness thrown into the mix.

To start to get a sense of what to expect, you might want to start at our Pre-Op Resources page: https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/view_pre.htm . This has links to various articles and resources as well as commonly asked questions. When I was preparing for my surgery, I found this to be a good place to get a sense of what the big issues were. The Pre-Op discussion forum (where you are now) was good to learn how other women had expeienced these things.

As you get more comfortable with the forum and get to know some of the wonderful and supportive women here, please feel free to talk about your sadness and why you are having this surgery. We will be right here with you, to send you cyber-hugs and help you on this journey.

I'm sending big to you now.

Re: I have a surgery date

I had a TVH -- not laproscopic and none of the other stuff you're having -- so I can't really answer all that. For me the waiting was the worst part. I'm at 7 weeks post op and I'm so glad I had it done. It wasn't nearly as bad as I imagined. Good Luck to you.
