Ct Scan results :(

Well, it's official! Just had a CT scan because of all this chronic pelvic, abdmonial pain and it showed that I am "extremly constipated from pain pills" and nothing else! I "feel" exactly like I felt before my last adhesion surgery. Like my bladder is stuck & contantly pulling, and I can not lean into the counter or wear jeans, but now, my "newer" GP had me labeled as a "nut case". Even the tech that did the scan told me that if I had adhesions they would show up on the CT scan as some sort of abnormality and nothing showed up but me being constipated, so that is that, now my GP won't listen anymore, I am sure. She now has be down as a nut case! What I would LOVE to tell these doctors is to come to this site and READ these posts and see how many woman have these chronic pains after this surgery that does not show up anywhere on these tests! So, like so many of you have done, I am now getting off the doctor merry-go-round & will just live with this pain and keep my mouth shut. Better than being known as the "crazy lady"! I think I will go back on the Lexapro, I handled it all better when I was taking that. I know these pain pills ARE constipating me, which of course does not help with the abdominal pain, so I am going to stop taking them. I am just so depressed right now! Only you "sisters" know what it feels like to have all your tests come back negative! MOST people want that, but us, we just want answers and we are not gonna get them. Thank god for this site, or I really would think I was nuts! (actually, I AM beginning to doubt my sanity)

Re: Ct Scan results :(

(((whatsnormal)))
Sorry the results weren't what you were hoping for. Did they see stool in your CT Scan? I've always been told that adhesions rarely show up on any tests, including CT Scans.

Have you considered maybe trying the pain patch? It doesn't go thru the liver so may be less constipating. I have done well with the patch, only using oral meds for breakthru pain. Accupuncture is another option.

Re: Ct Scan results :(

I have to agree with Kim. My adhesions didn't show up on a CT scan or an ultrasound. They didn't know they were there until they did the laproscopy. The pain pills will add on extra pain if you are constipated. Are you taking any stool softners or gentle laxatives? I am still having to take my pain meds and have to take my stool softners and laxatives every night or I can't go. Good luck to you. I hope this helps...

Re: Ct Scan results :(

could you please tell me what to take to get this "moving"????? I have tried fruit, juices, this powerful laxative the dr gave me a script for and all I get is pain!!!! And these pain pills are not worth it, they give me pain elsewhere!!!!
And, even though the ct scan is "normal", so was the one I had 3 years ago, right before I had FIVE bands of adhesions removed from my colon and had my bladder pealed off the inside of my incision!!!

Re: Ct Scan results :(

Magnesium citrate usually works well for me. Or Senekot. I wouldn't really recommend this, but sugarfree candy can also do it. The sorbitol can have a laxative effect. However; if you're not going after taking a powerful laxative you really need to call the doctor!

Re: Ct Scan results :(

Well, the good news (if ya want to call it that) is that my primary called & she does not think I am nuts and said the even though the ct scan was "normal" the distention(sp) is NOT and if this does not "clear" (with the help of Milk of Magnisea) SHE will be calling my surgeon next week! The ct scan "proves" there is no other explanation except adhesions! Glad I switched primary dr. when my other one refused to believe me! Others always said the CT scan "proves" that nothing is wrong, she believes it "proves" that like a blockage or tumor is causing this problem, but there IS a problem! Quess Kim was right, sometimes there a some good ones, it's just too bad we have to go through so many bad ones to get there! Wish me luck the I don't in-plode this w/e!

Thank God for your new dr. I am glad she believes you. It is so sad that we have to suffer so long. Finally someone believes you!!

Re: Ct Scan results :(

Well, as much as I WANT to jump off, I am losing weight at an alarming rate & I am small to start with, had to go out yesterday & buy some size 4 pants as I am getting tired of being told I am too skinny, so maybe if my pants don't look like they are gonna fall of, the better,
Anyway, I just made an appt for May14 with a uro/gyno who is the Director of Uro/gno & Pelvic Reconstruction for a major hospital here in CT.

Called today & explained to the receptionist what I was going through & she said it sounds like something this dr could help me with! She is about 30-35 years old. Per receptionist she is sweet, caring, won't care if I cry as she has seen it all and is a "genious". So I called both doctors who did my three surgeries & will be getting my record shortly. I know 3 years agowhen I tried to get my records sent to another dr it was a nightmare with all the questions & they DID NOT send everything. I believe now, with the HIPPA laws, things have changed a lot, and I was told to request everything I wanted & I will have it before the appt.
Am trying hard NOT to get my hopes up too high, as we all know what it is like to do that and only leave in tears.
But I will try!
