Anemia?

hi, I am 6 week post op, during the past week I have beening having real high pulse 115-130! Beening dizzy and feeling tired all the time. I have not been bleeding for 4 weeks now. Could I be have Anemia? I had these some problems when I was having heavy periods. I had total hysterectomy with the ovaries also been taken out. The nurse is supposed to call back tomorrow. Is there anybody out there having the same problems.

Re: Anemia?

I can comment on the dizzy and tired as I have been there a lot for a long time. The pulse I am not sure, that would worry me. I have had high pulse if I overdo it though, but just on occasion and not for weeks now.

Dizzy and tired are certainly common signs of anemia. Have you had your blood counts done to check it?

Re: Anemia?

thanks for replying, I talked to the doctor, he checked over the blood test I had taken in the hospital, he said it showed significance that I have Anemia. Told me to take prenatal vitamins and Iron supplements, everyday. Told me he would do another blood test in 6 weeks. MY pulse has been higher then my blood pressure! It feels like my heart is going to come out of my chest. I also see him in 2 weeks for my followup. I went and got a haircut today and I was so wornout like I had when I babysit my little nephews! Their mother called me today to babysit them, one is almost 3 years, 18months, 4 months! I love them But I don't think I could handle them yet!

Re: Anemia?

I've been anemic for over a year - still taking Iron supplements - I hope that works for you. Can I suggest that you remember to take fiber and/or colace, something to help you go bm. You might get backed up from all the iron you'll be taking.

I also agree that a high pulse rate is worrisome, and I'd call either the gyno or see your regular internist, and have it checked again in their office. I'd want to be seen by a doctor in person to have that pulse checked just to be sure.

Maybe it's a hormonal inbalance because you are now thrown into surgical menopause, (no ovaries, etc). Therefore all the hormones are out of wack, no estrogen from the ovaries, the adrenals, the thyroid, all talk to each other, so possibly something is missing and maybe your body is reacting to it.

Good luck!
