Feeling positive and wanted to share

Hello gals,

Well, as much as I am dreading this ordeal, I must say I am trying to focus on how I will feel, say, six months from now. Hopefully no more backache, etc. I have been in such angst over work, etc. Lot's of changes here, but my job is safe. I am going to try an make my recovery a positive experience and think about some of the perks like being home when my son gets home from school. I hope having this surgery will "jump start" me into taking better care of myself, eating better, exercising, etc. I wanted to hear from others if this indeed happen to them. Was your surgery a "kick in the pants" to get you motivated to lose weight, etc.?

Feeling positive and wanted to share

Hey there!

I have felt great since my TAH last year. Well, since about 5 months post-op, anyway

I seem to have more energy, and my workout schedule is no longer interrupted by cramps, bleeding, etc. Life is wonderful!

The surgery was tough, and the recovery long, but I have no regrets and would do it all again.

Good luck!

positive changes ahead

Fran:

It is good to think ahead. Keep up the positive thoughts!! I had my TAH-BSO on August 2nd. At just under a week, I started feeling a whole lot better; although getting your energy back is slow. I am reading a great book called "Hormone Replacement Therapy. Conventioanl Mrdicine and Natural Alternatives" by Linda Laucella. It is a great book. It lists what types of foods you need after menopause, and even lists which ones to eat to get certain vitamins and minerals. Yes, I am motivated to eat better and lose weight now. I even put a reminder list on my fridge as to what to eat and what to avoid. I am NOT going to be one of those ladies who gains weight after a hysterectomy. I really think the surgery gave me this attitude. I want to go what's good for my body, after all it's been through!! I happened to weigh myself last week (whichI rarely do) and lost 15 lbs. So, I am also motivated by this too. I think I've been losing slowly sine the late spring. Keep up the good thoughts, and I hope you do well in the castle.
