How Vaginal Cuff FEELS - detailed

Still trying to learn the "new me" and have a question. I know my vagina is much shorter by feel alone. It's not hard at all to reach that cuff, and it feels like there is a major ridge going from one side to the other of it. Like raised scar tissue I guess? Is that normal/okay? I know they say you can stretch it out if shortness is an issue, but that scare tissue interferes with that. SO how much is normal?
Also the entrance feels, well RIGID. I noticed other changes as well. Does anyone know what structural changes other than the obvious (cuff instead of cervix) can take place?
I swear there is a dent, like a recess (think a hollow carved into a wall) on the left side now that was NOT there before. What's that all about?
Also, that little exploration was digital and I hurt. How can I handle intercourse?

Re: How Vaginal Cuff FEELS - detailed

As for handling intercourse, you take it slowly. One woman said she had her husband only go in a couple of inches and than added another one the next time. You don't go right back to your normal routine.

As for the incision, depending on what you are feeling you could have some granularization. I had a hard fibrous band on the left side of my cuff that had to be snipped and than it reabsorbed.

As for the "hard" at the entrance, it could be that your pelvic floor muscle is triggering (knots) . You might need to work at stretching it (one gyn I went to gave me a dialtor). I ended up with muscle triggers at the entrance to my vagina and also on the right side of my cuff. A uro-gyn sent me for pelvic floor rehab. I do exercises and also receive external abdominal and internal vaginal massage.

My vaginal cuff incision feels much softer than it did 6 weeks ago when I had the granularization.

You may just have to take it slow and easy and everything will return to normal but ask your dr. about it.

Re: How Vaginal Cuff FEELS - detailed

Thank you for your response! It's really been worrying me today. I will ask my doc about everything you mentioned for sure!
It feels like a rope, raised like a baseball seam from one end to the other, from left to right. Not just one sided so maybe it's okay? Thanks again! It feels better knowing you aren't the only one with questions/issues... which is why I love this forum!

Re: How Vaginal Cuff FEELS - detailed

Mine isn't raised, it's more like a seam but the muscle around it is pliable. The granularization fiber that I had was very hard and non-pliable because it didn't give it caused pain during intercourse. As did the muscle trigger on the right side of the cuff.

On the exploration hurting, remember you are still healing. I'm 1 week shy of 5 months and things feel like this. You are 5 weeks out. I healed slowly and didn't get cleared for intercourse until week 10 to 11, had issues so got held off for another week so I was around 12 weeks by that time.

how can you feel that?
I did some exploration too, and couldn't get in that far, LOL...and I am six feet tall and have long fingers! I couldn't touch the back of the cuff that way.
And now I've started having my nails done again so I am not about to go poking around in there with my long acrylic nails.

Re: How Vaginal Cuff FEELS - detailed

I had no desire to go feeling around in there LOL
My Dr said I was actually longer then before.. ODD I know, but true all the same, Because I was partially prolapsed inside he said the he re-suspended made me longer inside.. Sex for the first time, I felt no pain, it was nice not to have it for once!

Re: How Vaginal Cuff FEELS - detailed

I'm pretty comfortable with myself and my body. When TTC I got used to checking cervical position, etc, and I like knowing my body. So I had no problems on the motivation to see what's going on in there.
As far as the how, I must say that bothers me. If anyone is familiar with checking cervical position, you know it rises and lowers throughout the cycle... because normally the canal can extend during arousal or during your cycle.
The cuff was LOW, very easily reached... and lower than my cervix ever thought about being. Hopefully the dilators or pelvic therapy options Taurus Lady mentioned will be an option for me, as scar tissue generally isn't very flexible. The idea of a brick wall at the end isn't very comforting.
I"m thinking it will be painful, as just checking things out left me hurting all day, but I refuse to allow my ability to enjoy an active sex life go down with my ability to have kids.
I'm glad yours has been a positive experience, Jade. I've never had pain with intercourse or the like before, so my experience thus far is the reversal of yours. Hopefully the different options will keep that from becoming a permanent thing.
