anyone with problems with swelling in the legs/feet?

Ihad my TAH on 4/20 and had some complications, first they could not control my pain-the morphine was doing nothing and they had to try other meds the first day. The day I should have come home, Wed, my dr. says I am losing blood and he does not know where but it may mean going back into surgery. They put the IV back in onThurs and gave me blood and fluids. I have been experiencing swollen calves and feet all week and do not know what to do about it. I am home and feel better but the swelling is not better-I am worried about blood clots too-any suggestions?

Re: anyone with problems with swelling in the legs/feet?

Dear lovinlife,

Each time I have posted lately, my post has been removed. So, you may not receive this. Have you notified your physician/surgeon? It is important to do so. Secondly, I am sharing my story.

I was d/c'd with an indwelling foley catheter & my calves and ankles also became very swollen, (my ankles normally are very tiny). It was a weekend & I had no one to available to assist me. In a situation like this, keep your calves & ankles elevated, at all times, even when sleeping. I placed sofa pillows in pillow cases under my knees. I used ice packs and/or frozen vegetables to help bring the swelling down and pretty much stayed in one position, either on my sofa or in bed.

I could not drive to my post-op visit & had to re-schedule. The swelling was too bad & painful, eventually it did subside.

Take it super slow and please do notify your doctor. Big Hugs.
