Chemo #4 completed!!! I asked the oncologist today what determines six,
vs. eight treatments. He told me that after chemo#6 I will get another CAT
SCAN, plus a new CA125, plus looking into the fact if my gyn oncologist
surgeon considered my surgery optimal debulking or suboptimal debulking.
It was considered optimal debulking. My CA125 is 12 at present. So perhaps
I am 2/3rds of way done. I've been reading more about PET SCANs being
more accurate than CAT SCANs. Anyone here with any knowledge of this?
Maria, I am so sorry to read of your sister in law's new diagnosis of Ovarian
Cancer. But how fortunate she will be to have you in her life.
And dear meadow fire, I read your post below and I have gained 14 lbs while
undergoing treatments with Taxol and Carboplatin. But aren't we lucky to
have such good appetites while undergoing chemo.
Thanks again dear hyster sisters for your loving support.

Hugs Karen!!
Great news about your treatments, and wow on the the CA125...gotta love that number!!!

I haven't heard of the PET scan, but since you menitoned it I am going to do some reading on it as well. They haven't mentioned whether I will have to have another CT scan or not.
I hope not as through out my whole ordeal, that was the only day I cried. Wondering what the results of that test would be just terrified me.

Thanks so much for your well wishes for my SIL. We are very hopeful she will do well with her chemo too. I am hoping she will let me go with her the first couple times, but it has to be her decision.

You take care Karen, and so glad things are going wonderfully for you!! And you do have the best attitude! You're a fighter girl!!
Love and Hugs,
Maria xoxo

More than half way done! That's wonderful! and boy is that "12" wonderful! Certainly makes it all easier to handle everything with results like that.

I don't have any personal experience with a PET Scan either but from what I understand its different in that it gives more of a 3D image while a CT Scan gives a sectioned view (like slices). I've read they use PET Scans for brain views and such, haven't read too much of it used elsewhere but haven't really poked around either.

You sound like you are just doing marvelously with handling your treatments and you have such a great attitude about it! Its a wonderful thing to see gal! Keep it up, you ARE such a fighter!

What wonderful news!! I hope that the doctor doesn't feel like you need those extra treatments and all will be over with! Your positive attitude is the best and I wish you much health!!
