So many pills!

I'm five days post-op. First thing in the morning I have to take a Zantac to help avoid stomach upset with my 800 mgs Motrin. After I eat I take the Motrin...then because its been so rainy and wet here and I have mold/mildew problems I have to take a Claritan. Then I take a Philips stool softener. At lunchtime I have to take my vitamin with my meal...another stool softener. Then for dinner another Zantac and Motrin....then another stool softener and Claritan at bedtime. I also take a tiny dosage of Zoloft once a day (25 mg). To top all that off I think I'm going to have to start taking GasX as well!

I've never popped so many pills in my life! Most of the are OTC true...but I feel like my dad who is 93 and has to down a little drug store at least once a day!

So what do you other recent post op people have to take? If you say nothing you should bottle your secret and sell it!

Re: So many pills!

elfdream,

I feel the same way!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am 31 years old and had to buy a pill organizer. My DH gave me soooo much grief. I take a lot of vitamins and supplements. I take:

Omega 3
pre-natal vitamin
additional calcium w/vit D
B-12
allergy pill

Add in there any random motrin I might need as well.

Re: So many pills!

I also had to laugh - and I am 22 months post-op! I remember 'those days' well - stool softeners are your

I also have a pill organizer - or else I 'cheat' and don't take everything (like skipping vitamins or iron supplement or. . . . [I am on 3 daily , also 2 otc allergy meds, high potency iron x3 for anemia, vitamin D 4000mg/day. IF I am being good, I will also take omega-3 and calcium. And, then there are pain meds - Imitrex for migraines, or vicoden for knees - as needed - so they can really vary.]

Elfdream - being as newly post-op as you are - you definitely do not want to strain anything, is also rather normal. I can say it does get better!
But I do know what you mean about downing a rainbow of drugs!

By the way - where is Boyce? The name sounds familiar. [I am in Germantown, MD.]
